Hey moms, I suffered from severe PPD with my first daughter, now 4.5, and had a lot of success on Effexor. In fact, I can honestly say I have been completely depression free for the time I've been taking psych meds. However, I'm now five weeks pregnant with my second, due January 2015, and trying to wean myself from Effexor. The withdrawal process is brutal and I'm really struggling. Has anyone successfully gone off Effexor and can offer tips for dealing with the side effects? In addition to morning sickness, I'm struggling with insomnia, night sweats, "brain zaps," and intense headaches. Based on what I've read online, a combo of Benadryl and Omega 3 is helping somewhat, along with a small amount of marijuana which I feel nervous about even though I've done the research about potential effects on my baby and feel more comfortable than I would if I kept taking Effexor. Looking for any experiences, advice, or commiseration!

Just sending you hugs. Your journey is a bit bumpy right now. Brain zaps are no fun nor night sweats. I have no advice but curious if you are tapering too much off. I say move slow on that . Hugs and best

Im really interested in your experiences. I have had chronic depression since having my first child and used paxil throughout my pregnancy with my son. But it stopped working in January so I am now on effexor. Coming off meds isnt an option for me and I want to have another child so am wondering if I could using effexor. Citalopram is supposed to bevthe safest. How is your withdrawing going?
