I am on Zolft and don't feel like its working. Is there any other BF friendly drugs I can try? I still feel like I can't cope very well.

It usually starts to work in about a week, but can take 4-6 weeks to kick in.

Mom to two beautiful boys, now in school to be a therapist and help other women with PPD.

I am on prozac and I love it. I feel fantastic. I did not at first but then had it increased.

I hope you find release, mama.

OP, i would talk to the doctor and see if maybe the dosage could be increased. you might as well try that first and see if it works before switching drugs altogether, KWIM?

that is assuming you aren't having any debilitating side effects or anything...

I'm also taking Zoloft (on my 4th week) and it is not working. I was on Lexapro for 5 weeks, and it worked GREAT (so I know what that's supposed to feel like!) but I had to stop because I developed a pretty bad allergy to it. My 50 mg of Zoloft feels like nothing at all, so I think I may request an increase in the dosage at my appointment next week.

Have you taken it before?

I ask because I took it after the birth of my twins. I then began taking it after the birth of my daughter and suddenly it wasn't working like it did the first time.

Most dr's seem to say to give a med 2-4 weeks to kick in. But in my researching medications and depression for DH, you really should give it 6 weeks. That said, some people don't have 6 weeks to give, so I'd talk to your dr about moving on to another SSRI maybe.
