I am just beginning to write a series of ebooks. They will actually be herbal teaching modules I plan to sell as single lessons in ebook format for home study purposes. :

Anyway, I am just beginning to look at publishing options and wonder if LULU is a good option has anyone published through them? Any tips or advice?

Also what about ISBN #'s is it worth it to get one?

TIA!

I have only heard good things about LuLu. Don't know about the ISBN# but if you're planning to sell your ebooks as a business venture isn't it an obligation?

hmm, I'm not sure? Is it required? I thought it was just so you would be able to sell on amazon.com and places like that..off to read more about it!

I have looked into and it is extremely expensive imo. Have you priced how much it would cost to publish your items and make a profit and if they would then be marketable for that price?

And no you do not need an ISBN unless you plan to sell to major book stores, like Amazon, that require then for their computer systems.

I think it is 20% they take off your profit, but no set up fees. Is that right, does anyone know? It's hard to understand from the website..I am looking at publishing digital only, not sure if it makes a difference in price?

has anyone published an ebook through lulu here?

Oh, okay... that makes a difference. Yes, I believe you set the price to whatever you want then and they take a specific percentage.

I was thinking with print books, where their manufacturing costs are approx. the same amount per page as the cover retail price of similar books in the market. I can't see how, unless you are very specialized, that you can make a good profit that way.

I heard great things of Lulu, and to stay away from Publish America.
Good luck!
