my editor described the last two chapters of my work in progress that she read as 'turning into goosebumps'.... ya know that series of scary novels for like middle schoolers.
not at all what i had in mind but i totally agree! now i am struggling with how to 'keep it real'... my novel is fantasy/mythological but definitely an adult book and i want to stay away from corny and cheesy (which evidently i have done a bad job of doing).
the problem is the mc is a high school senior girl- and we all know how drama filled and emotional high school can be. so i am trying to find a balance between showing this and not turning too Goosebumps. argh.
