I'm going to post here the ones that I like the most. Anyone else wants to play? Are we allowed to copy / paste entries? If not, maybe just first couple of sentences and their numbers?

I don't think we can post the whole entry. But the entry number and the first sentence should be ok!

Well, I read over a hundred, and didn't find anything I liked, so maybe I give up. In any case I'm not going to go through all of them, but will read randomly.

I don't see any numbers, though. So the first sentence...

Is anyone else reading?

Oh I meant comment number. We could also do date and time stamp.

Like you, I'm just not pulled in to any of them yet and I don't think I'll make it through 1721 comments .

My list: (I'll be adding to it)

London kissed me yesterday, and I liked it.
My red backpack has been with me all day.
I don’t believe in love.
Anja’s eyelids are thick metal hinges, too heavy to lift.
I remember the first time I saw my wife;
Birds were flying upside-down.

A girl is born to a couple living in Northern California.
It was the middle of August, just two weeks shy of school starting and my twelfth birthday when my world turned upside down.
COUNSELOR: Today is September 23.
If queen bee Abigail Withers called me a wannabe loser one more time,
It was unseasonably chilly the day I died.
"I don't care if you are my guardian angel," Sarah said under her breath.
She smoked instead of breathing.
Katrina Hayes was going to die
Go ahead and call me paranormally paranoid, but sharing my home with a multitude of disembodied spirits, I feel as if I’m under the constant watch of invisible voyeurs
My father stopped speaking one day in 1976, and didn’t say a word for almost four years
No adults heard the sharp yell followed by the splash of water,
The body hung suspended from the warehouse beam, his feet dangling just below Lea's eye level

I saw a man die today.
I knew she was a Seer from the moment she walked into the room.
I knew it was going to be a bad day when a samurai in full gear burst into third period and sliced my science book in half, just missing my thumbs
Ammut knew how to watch unseen, listen unheard.

“They have a two hundred and sixty-three year head start and I thought I could find them?”

What do you do if you find a dead dog under your pregnant wife’s favourite tree?
When I stopped by my room to hide my tears and grab my knives, I caught Fox setting my books on fire.
With the Gulf of Mexico sloshing and foaming just down the road, farmhouses were set off the ground on stilts.

I started from the most recent, kinda cheating, but not really

The one on the top of my list is a YES, the other two are a maybe. I think that when he has a shortlist, the entries will be easy to recognise by the first line, if any of ours match his.

"The fairy ride was a pause in my life where I took the time to think of absolutely nothing."

This has my vote. Yep.. a fairy ride...you know I thought it was a play on words OR a typo but nope, he says fairy the whole way through and then steps off on to the dock. Gosh this is like the first episode of American Idol. Can't watch.

I follow his Tweets and he seems cool. I'm glad he seems like a good guy IRL, too. He updated --

@NathanBransford: First paragraph contest closed!! Final tally: 2,651. Finalists announced tomorrow. http://tinyurl.com/yfmvu6v

He must have been reading them as they came in to keep up with 2,651 comments and have them narrowed down by tomorrow!

Considering he spits rejections out in 49 seconds, he's a fast one. What a brutal taks, though.

Yeah, I must have typed "Dear Mr. Bransford" wrong. Because seriously, he couldn't have read more than that. He is not an agent that would represent my stuff, but I guess it is a rite of passage to query all the blogging agents, right?

"I don’t believe in love." was on his honorable mentions list - so you got that one right.

I think now that we are down to ten to choose from it'll be easier to play. I can't vote yet. Of those ten, I have two I like.

What do you think of his finalist choices? They are not what I would have plucked out, but I do like some of them.

I haven't read any of the finalists before they were selected. I like Maya most. I like the one with the dead babies, it is so well written. But I feel the last line is too much of a shock value.

I agree...it was perfect without that. It was almost like overacting.
