Since I write about family, my inspiration is, of course, my family.

Kind of dull - which is why I'm bored and nosey enough to want to know what inspires others to write. Especially now that I have had a taste of Beloved K's vampire fiction!

I am inspired by the assignments I do for my writers group. Since there is a deadline, it forces me to write and I often use the material as a jumping off point for other stuff.

I sometimes 'harvest' my old journals and use a passage as a prompt for a new piece of writing. Sometimes it works, other times...well?

I need to think of other things, when I do, I'll post them

                                Whatever will be, already is...

sometimes a word, or an image, or a situation -- something that i pondered long enough to develop some kind of interst in it, and elaborate upon. or when i am curious about something and trying to figure it out.

i kept wondering about a nosy woman in our building, and ended up writing "snowrise".

i get inspired by poetry 'I cut him a peony' is based on a poem by Anna Akhmatova.

i get inspired by memories, like in Three Memories of Rain

i just wrote a flash called BONOBO because i just could not get rid of this word

I've been hanging out here reading you guys for a few days and am excited to start really writing. No one else has ever seen my work other than my english teachers years ago. I am inspired by my son and just things around me. One thing I do is keep a dream journal and try to write in as much detail as I can. It is harder than you'd think because of how crazy dreams can be.

Lucky you Esmama to wake and remember your dreams! I can't recall the last time I dreamed in vivid detail. I think I'm so chronically sleep deprived now, my mind just doesn't prioritise my unconscious processes anymore.

I have to say, I have found this Mothers Writing Group rather inspiring. I hope we can attract some more regular posters here. The only non-family related things I've recently written are here - the luggage exercise and the recent three stories. They have shown me that I can potentially write other stuff, which is an exciting thought for me at this stage of the game!

I have learned everything I know 'on the job' so haven't had any opportunity to indulge in creative writing just for the heck of it.

I'm off to read the links AnnaBanana posted.

I'm inspired by my childhood...the things I pretended then carry on today and... I'm still developing those worlds....
