Hi everyone...my first time posting here, and just thought I'd jump right in.

So still
So silent
So serene
A breath
A sigh
A smile

The soft
The warm
The meek and mild
For Emma Darling Child

Out hate
Out rage
And out despair
And Hope Stay long awhile

No pain
No hurt
No thoughts reviled
For Emma
Darling Child

Welcome to MDC

That's great to just jump right in. I'm not sure if you wanted feedback on your poem, and if so...what kind? (there is a great stickie on 'feedback')

Let us know.

BTW, I enjoyed reading, and was left wanting to know more about the hate and rage. I've got ideas, but don't know if they are accurate. (sorry if you didn't want feeback)

Kelly

Thanks for the friendly welcome...

I love any and all feedback. I like that switch of perspective, and finding out if my poetry conveys what I'm attempting to communicate.

I wrote this poem shortly after the birth of my first daughter. It's fairly simplistic, not a lot of deep meaning. It's meant to express the protectiveness of a parent watching over a sleeping child. The "Out hate/out rage" is my vain wish to keep all the evil of the world from ever touching her.

Thanks again for the welcome!

First of all, I'm sorry for your losses
and congratulations on your pregnancy

From the sentiment I picked up from your poem, it sounds like you are an excellent mother. Keep it up; your new baby is lucky to have a mom so filled with love. Lucky stepson, to have yet another person who loves him. If I was his mom, I may feel a little funny, but relieved and grateful that his stepmom loves him so much
