This is something i do sometimes to generate new ideas and prompts. Either use these as starting points, or harvest a few lines from your own journal to create something new:

Time really slows down when you have nothing to do.

The depression weighed down my limbs like a suit of armor protects a knight.

I thought that dying would hurt.

It is not prison I want, rather the magic of the storm.

Unspoken joys, unuttered pain.

His saddness begged to be touched.

I have destroyed the visible love that I had, so I guess I dance for the invisible, imaginary beings who think I am beautiful.

Burn the scourge from me with holy flames.

Inside of each shadow, there lived a new dread.

You get the idea? It would even be cool if you just posted lines from your journal, maybe someone could find inspiration there (or you could renew your own)

That's a great idea. I've also found lots of prompts on sites for writing teachers. Of course, those meant for middle-schoolers are often not as interesting as those for high-schoolers, but I've also been surprised.

I agree!

If you read any lines in my 'journal' you would call the authorities and have me put away.

Actually, I ended up writing something triggered by "His sadness begged to be touched..." Thank you Kellie. When it's polished maybe I'll post it here.

I tried to scrub you off of me today. Sometimes a good physical delousing can also be a spiritual and emtional one as well. You're still here, embedded in my thoughts, my heart, my soul.

No more trading pieces of myself away to stay afloat.

Though the reality is I don't even see them anymore, they're just shapes in the smoke. All I'm looking for is you.

In all of the fire that surrounds me as I burn, these are the two things I cling to. The two things I will emerge with - my hope, your optimism. Hand in hand, fingers intertwined. Painting my destiny, handing it to Fate for review. My hope, your optimism.

Long distance Mom to boarding school superstars E (9) and Layne (6).
