Hi guys...I never posted here before. I wrote this poem after 9/11 and am going to share it...I don't think i am a great writer but wanted to express my feelings....

The Fireman

"Give me your hand,"
said the world-wearied man.
"Put your arms around me
and I'll help you to stand."
"I can't go on,"
said the woman, in tears.
"You go on without me,
I've lived out my years."
"Come along with me now
or together we'll die."
She reached out her hand
and started to cry.
The fireman led her out of the towers
carried her, though he'd been working for hours.
"You saved my life" she said when they got outside.
He tipped his hat and went back inside.

Dedicated to the firemen, police and other rescue workers and all the others who lost their lives on 09/11/01. :fireman

Oh, thanks so much guys...I was kind of nervous about coming to see the reactions. 9/11 is such a tough thing and I was afraid it wouldn't be good enough. I just need some way to express my feelings about all of it. I actually started writing a story about a teenager who loses her dad on 9/11 and a year later her mom has her volunteer to visit a lady at a nursing home and the teen is nervous cause she doesn't see how she can help her but then it turns out that the woman is a holocaust survivor and ends up helping the teen....I don't know...sound ok or sappy?

I think it sounds like a great idea. Alot has to do with how it's written, of course. Why not start and see how it goes.

you'll never know if you don't try!
