Hey everyone --

I am writing to call for submissions to a new magazine about birth.

The Birth Project is published near Ann Arbor, Michigan, but read across the country and by a few dedicated subscribers on the other side of the world.

We publish original poetry, art, photography, and non-fiction writing about birth and women's health. We believe that birth is normal but not always perfect, just like life!

We are especially interested in creative pieces that explore how birth transforms people -- mothers, fathers, grandparents, siblings. We are interested in stories about adoption (by birthparents and adoptive parents both), miscarriage, abortion, and neonatal loss as well.

Recent articles have included a story of the birth of an 11lb baby in the hospital, a story by a dad about how parenting a newborn changes the function of the brain, and an article about how to check your own cervix in labor. We were also lucky enough to have poetry by a midwife about one of her clients' births, with photos.

Payment is in copies and eternal gratitude!

Submissions for the summer issue are due by June 15, 2007. Submissions received after that date will be considered for future issues.
