My career dream is to make a comfortable living for myself and my daughter as a romance writer.

That said because I'm a single mom, I also "need" additional income (ideally $500 more or less each month). I am considering a part-time job: freelance writing, teaching yoga..... a sitcom writer is a long shot but that is the only full time job (besides novelist) that I would even consider.

Any of you find a way to bring in income from or in addition to writing? Any thoughts on the job prospects I mentioned....? I really want something that will not drain my energy from my fiction but still allow some income for me & dd.

If you want flexible, PT work, check About.com for their hiring "write as a guide" section. I think $500/mo is the minimum of what they pay and you can write as you have time. There is some requirements for how often you write but the schedule didn't look that demanding to me. The big thing is whether they are looking for guides in an area you want to write about.
