I am at the beginning stages of getting a report writing career going here and wondering if any of you here have any experience/tips/advice in getting started.

I do have experience as a former business owner, writer, and fund raiser and as an added bonus my mother was a grant writer for years and has led workshops on grant writing so I have someone who can help me get a polished product, but she lives for away so she's limited in her ability to help.

So I've got a good place to start from, but I'm a bit unsure as to what some good first steps would be.

: Sounds like you have a lot of great ideas and resources!!!

Here are some things I have done to "get started"

-Write a short business plan for what I hope to accomplish
-Put up a website about my business
-Print Business Cards
-Commit to spending x/hours a day working on my business (website, marketing, cold calling, advertsing, job hunting, reading/research)
-Become a member of the local chamber of commerce/neighborhood association
-Volunteer in the community

I am a big beliver that when you give you get, especially when it comes to participating in associations.

Best of luck!
