I have two children 4 and 2.5 both who are in Montessori school and we try out best to follow Montessori principals at home too.  We don't watch TV or movies except for when we travel (1 or 2 times a year), then we have a portable DVD player for teh plane.  But I don't like the DVDs we have for travel (stuff like Word World, Barney...).  I figure there must be something better with people (not talking animals) and moves a normal pace (i.e. not like current kids shows which change the scene every couple seconds).  I was thinking Mr. Rogers or some nature shows.   But honestly I have no idea how to find DVDs like this.  Does anyone have any reccomendations?  Thank you!

Scholastic has a great series of classic children's book stories put to video.  There's an older fairy tale theater series that also fits what you describe (early 80's or so?).  Theater or musical performances on dvd might be something else to look through.
