Dd is 9 and will be 10 in March.
Ds was 5 in September.

So what Waldorf grades would they be in?

I thought K was 5-7
Grade 1 7-8
Grade 2 8-9
Grace 3 9-10

But then I have read that K is 4-6
Grade 1 6-7
Grade 2 7-8
Grade 3 8-9
Grade 4 9-10

At dd's Waldorf school the cut-off for 1st grade is 6 years old by June 1st. (to start the following Sept. in 1st grade.) So, if my math is correct, your kids would be in kindy and 4th grade.

Our cut off date is June 30th, and there are earlier ones sometimes. But yes, 9 going on 10 is Class 4, and 5 going on 6 is the last year of Kindergarten.

Personally I think 7/8 is way too old for Class 1, but there do seem to be a lot of people who think it is best.

My granddaughter turned 7 in December of 1st grade and is now a 10 year old in 4th grade. This has suited her perfectly. She fits in well with her class and the curriculum is matching her interests and abilities.

My grandson will turn 7 next July and then enter 1st grade. I think he is going to be ready and perhaps a little more than ready. However, he has some trouble with holding writing implements, so if he was in 1st grade this year he would be struggling a lot. I think he'll be happier if he feels ahead of things rather than behind. He is also just getting interested in learning how to read, asking what various words are and stuff like that. Oh yeah, he lost his two bottom front teeth a few weeks ago.
