I haven't looked at them in a while but Ladybug Magazine was a cute one for 3-6 year olds. There are others (including Ladybug) at this site http://www.cobblestonepub.com/index.html If you scroll over MAGAZINES on the left, it lists the different names. They have magazines for a variety of ages.
I tend to give my kiddos waldorf style catalogs to look at (nova natural, rosie hippo). They are 4 and 7 and this keeps them happy. They are not reading yet, so this works for now
But I would love to see what other options there are our there!

I do the same thing! My daughter likes the hidden pictures in High Five, but there are some stories that simply don't suit our family's way of doing things.
I'm not sure what age your kids are, but Cricket Magazine seems to be popular. Another that's fun for the family is Taproot from soulemama.com's Amanda Blake Soule. It's got adult-level reading, but beautiful photos and illustrations.
I am sure Ladybug would be a good choice. We check out Babybug (the younger version) at our library and it seems Waldorf-inspired to me. My daughter loves the poems and illustrations.
What about animal-type magazines? National Geographic has a few options for the younger set, and there's Ranger Rick and the likes -- my kids just love to look and read about the different animals each month : ) And I'll third Taproot, SUCH a beautiful magazine!
The thing with the Nova and Palumba catalogs is that (I feel) it raises a level of consumerism within the child.. we used to have a ton of them and the girls did enjoy looking at them, but it did turn into an "I WANT I WANT I WANT" fest which was all too reminiscent of my childhood memories with the Toys R Us catalog =P.
I have the introductory Taproot magazine (for myself) and it was quite nice. I'm not the magazine type, no real time, but if I were it would be high on my list.

That is quite true--catalogs do inspire covetousness. I cut out a lot of the ones that come in the mail, allowing in the occasional Magic Cabin (mainly Halloween and Christmas ones).
We love Babybug - full of rhymes, chants and claps. DD is 3 and I suspect it will have appeal for a few more years. We had one issue that I bought at a garage sale that we would read over and over til DD glued the pages together.
