|What I have seen in my experience at Waldorf schools, and Rudolf Steiner college, is respect for the child and family that I have never seen anywhere else- and I've lived a lot of places, and tried a few schools for my child- and that the teachers truly *love* the children, and are unafraid to do so. Even the "problem" kids, and even when there's bureaucratic nonsense going on as at any other school.
And then I wrote:
This is quite the opposite from my own experience. Not trying to invalidate your experience, but suggesting that it is not universal - any more than mine is.
And I'd like to retract part of that. While my in my experience the part about "respect for family" is not there - in fact there was and still is a lot of disrespect for parents, there is respect for children apparent from many teachers - although not so much for the troublemakers. And I would agree that some teachers do display *love* for the children although I have been told by children that this is exactly this - a display for parents. But nonetheless, I think there are definitely some good Waldorf teachers who approach children with respect and love.
Going back and re-reading what I just wrote - it seems I have mixed feelings about this. :LOL

I see that the argumentative tone of this thread has continued unabated, with a few exceptions.
Serena, to clarify to your point, it is against the UA to be critical of other specific members, the board in general, the mod or the administrator, on the open forum. To date, Peggy has not stated that someone cannot be critical of a school, an educational philosophy, a group such as "waldorf teachers" in a general sense, or an entity. This may change, but that is currently the framework. When I ask people to edit, it is because they have been critical/sarcastic/demeaning (etc.) of individuals on the board, not anonymous entities.
Please review Cynthia's sticky again. Peggy O'Mara is actively reviewing the issues with the Waldorf subforum this week. When she has reached a decision, she will communicate that. At that point, there may be some changes, or there may not. It will be up to Peggy to decide.
For now I am closing this thread as the debate and critical tone have continued.
