I have just arrived at my mother's house for a 3 month stay with DS 1 (28 months) and DS2 (4 months) She went overboard in preparing for our stay. She bought lots of plastic animals and dinosaurs. She purchased plastic tractors, airplanes and other unnecessary crap (a little worked up). She really means well.
She knows how I feel about natural material toys (wooden, cotton, bamboo, rocks, shells, antlers, bones). Most of the time she respects our wishes in how we choose our toys. It has not been an easy battle. I am at a point where I am happy with our toy selection at home.
How do I tell her that her well meaning intentions were not so appreciated? I know I need to tone down the message. Also, how do I replace these toys without spending a lot of money. I need cheap ideas for our long stay.
Thanks for your help
