We know a few people who send their kids to this school and I think it looks pretty cool, but I have not heard of a Reggio school that goes thru 5th grade. Is this kind of uncommon? Do you think the Reggio Emilia approach is a good one for older kids as well?

That website certainly looks very appealing. I am not a reggio parent, but I have to say as mod here, I have not ever heard anything negative about Reggio schools, so they must be doing something right! I'm sure some others will be along soon.

It is uncommon for schools to take the RE approach past Kindergarten in the US and in RE Italy. My opinion personally is that it can be a very good teaching methodology past K as well. We have decided on sending our DD to a RE school that does as the one you are considering. They've taken a democratic and project based approach to learning in the older grades that I love. I think it can work really well personally when done balancing out education and children's ownership.

I've heard of Emilio Reggia before, and know just a smidge about it. This school looks WONDERFUL.

I wish that every child had these options.
