So I always have these really funky dreams when I'm prego.
Last night I had this odd dream that instead of an ultrasound at 20 weeks, my baby was physcially removed from my womb to make sure everything was okay and then put back in. (weird, weird, weird...) Anyway... the neat part about it...(yes, there was a neat part)...was that I saw her...and it was a she...and she had blonde hair just like my other DD's and a beautiful, healthy little body.. Of course while the concept isn't at all realistic... I woke up feeling like I had connected with this babe in a new way...

What strange dreams have you had recently?

I never had any baby dreams while pregnant last time, but I've had a few odd ones this time. In one of them, I was in labor and it was going very fast. I was trying to get to the hospital and had to cross this wide grassy yard. I wanted to just push the baby out, but I had to cross a certain spot in the yard for it to be considered born at the hospital...?? After I gave birth, they took the baby and wouldn't let me breastfeed. I kept asking and they just kept him at the nursery. Finally, I asked if I could go see him and they did, but I ended up looking at this glass bottle filled with itty bitty tiny babies...the premature ones, I guess (about the size of a thimble). They each had thier little bed to sleep and grow inside this jar. Just really wierd...

I remember one or two baby dreams last time, nothing yet this time. The thing that stands out about my pregnant dreams is that they are extremely emotionally vivid. I sometimes have a hard time shaking the feelings created or dredged up by these dreams for several hours after waking up. An ex from college showed up in one recently, and the good and bad feelings from that relationship haunted me for two days - I hadn't thought about this guy in years.

I second the emotional vividness! When pregnant w/S, I had a few baby dreams, but none so far. However, I've dreamed about my HS boyfriend (who I still keep in touch with sporadically) and another friend from HS, and both dredged up all this emotional "stuff".

I've also had a couple of major anxiety dreams - in one, I was in a play and showed up for rehearsal only to discover that it was opening night! So I'm backstage trying to learn my lines in the first scene, but the script's pages are not in any kind of order (they're numbered, but not sequentially). Finally I just have to go out and ad lib...and everyone else on stage is shooting me looks like I'm a complete idiot.

I've also had dreams in my pregnancies that brought about ex-boyfriends and a lot of the emotional "stuff" that never had closure... you'd think that while building a family with my mr. wonderful - the LAST thing in my subconcious would be ex-boyfriends.

I keep having dreams that I'm having twin boys. Which is weird because I had an ultrasound at 11 weeks and know it's a singleton.

I like being pregnant because I have alot of really nice, sexy dreams. It happened my whole last pregnancy too and I was so looking forward to it with this one.
Anyone else have this, or am I just lucky??
My libido kicks into overdrive too, which is such a nice plus about pregnancy that no one tells you about. I guess it is all those extra hormones. I wish we could bottle it up for use after the baby comes!!

I read once (great book but I can't remember what it's called- spiritual pregnancy maybe) anyhow, here's what it said (in my words.)

Our culture doesn't support telepathy or "knowing things" wihtout clear and present facts- so women are trained to ignore signals from their body and from their unborn babies.

When we dream, we are open and receptive to the thoughts and feelings of our babies. Prengant dreams- in addition to being more frequent and vivid than non preg dreams- are ways we can communicate with our babies.

I have known pregnant women who learned of their baby's breech position, sex, hair color, temperament, etc from dreams.

After 4 kids I have learned that the "themes" in my dreams definitely come from the personalities of my baby.

With my oldest (she's very wise) I had these psychic dreams predicting the most mundane happenings of the following day (flat tire, broken dish...)

With my second one (she's....challenging) I dreamed horrible nightmares, unspeakable things I won't even type up here. And I had these strange urges to go do things I had never done before- like playing Bingo in a bingo hall or bowling. I had bowled before, but ALONE- at 7 months pregnant, they thought I was crazy.

With baby #3 my entire pregnancy was surreal, blissfully happy in every way. Nothing got me down, even the financial problems we were having and the car troubles- nothing could bring me down from my cloud, and she herslef is FULL of joy.

With baby #4 I was working over 60 hours a week and the only "connection" I had with her was the constant apologizing I felt like giving to her, for not ever feeling my belly, for not eating right, for loving the pregnancy. I was so sorry. I always knew in my heart that she would be OK and she is, wonderfully tough and healthy and loving.

I don't know about this baby yet, I knew "she" was here the minute I conceived. The cloud of bliss fell upon me once again and although I didn't get a positive pee-stick result until I was 8 weeks along I knew. Husband thought I was crazy. I think it's hard to tell when you're in the sitautaion. I am sure that when I look back at the pregnancy with an "exterior" knowledge of the child it will be crystal clear. Today, though- I am just hoping I am right that this one is also full of love, non-demanding and absolutely LOVES everything glittery. I wish (for dh's sake) that I htought it was a boy (we have 4 girls). We'll see....

It is weird that you bring up having dreams about things that happen. Yesterday I had a dream that I missed my prenatal appointment and rushed in like two hours late. Well, I thought, how silly I'm always early to my appointments. I allowed 45 minutes for a 30 minute drive and ended up being 15 minutes late because I got lost and missed a couple turns. (Husband drove last time) It was just like-how freaky! And I have a lot of dreams about not being able to finish cleaning my units on time, and that day I will usually get done late because I get a really dirty one. Coincidence, who knows?

Didn't have any odd dreams with my first pregnancy and this time I am having tons. And ever since I had that wierd hospital dream I have had a peace about delivering at home UC, where before I was really scared.

I had sex with my cousin a few nights ago. I'm having lots and lots of weird sexual dreams. They are so embarassing because dh knows I'm having sex dreams and will ask me about them. I just don't want him to think they are fantasies!

Mom of a 7 yr old, 4 yr old, and 1 yr old. Wow. How did that happen?

I had a very vivid and emotionally difficult dream last night about an ex-boyfriend. He was looking sooo sexy and I really wanted to be with him. He wanted me to move back to his home state but had to tell him I was married now to the best guy ever. I am missing him this morning and feeling like I should write him a letter of finality telling him that I wish him all the best and how happy I am to be married and pregnant!! I don't know... we always did have the best sex, I think I'm afraid of the possibility of amazing sex after the baby comes....
Other crazy dreams too!

I have been having tons of baby dreams! I love them! The first was when I was about 8 weeks, and in my dream I was sleeping and woke because I heard someone calling me. I went outside to see who it was, and was standing on the rocks next to the sea (At the time I was living right next to the ocean). A whale surfaced right next to me, with my babe on its back. They had come to say hello, and the babe, a boy, waved at me. It was totally amazing! I have also had dreams about breastfeeding, which are so intense that I wake with sore nipples! In all my dreams the baby is a boy, but I am starting to wonder if it may not be... I guess we will wait and see....

I remember now A dream I had that I went into labour very quickly, so quickly my husband nor midwife made it in time. My (dream) daughter was born with me alone, and before the midwife arrived was talking, then walking. Sometimes when I dream I need no book for interpretations, can you tell I was quite worried about missing my child's baby days if I worked outside the home?

At any rate, at the time ALL my friends were guessing a girl, and we did not really have any feelings to one way or another. But by the time of the birth, all that had so influenced us that our son's arrival was a delightful shock. And some days he seems to grow as fast as that child of my dreams.

I just had a dream the day before yesterday that we took the baby out of my tummy so we could play w/the baby a little. It was a girl and she had blond hair and was wearing a dress and was pudgy like an older baby and sitting up on her own. Then we put her back in my tummy and I got stitches which I forgot about and went on to do some strenuous activity and then I remembered my stitches and that I better be careful.

I've got one for ya, this is from a couple of nights ago...

I was sitting on a red public-bathroom counter in the corner (right side if you're facing the sinks). The bathroom was pretty crowded and the sinks were white. I was nursing my baby, who had one tooth on the bottom. It was a baby with a human body, but a pig head - ears and snout, and prickly pig-hair on its arms and legs! The baby had a great latch, but kept nursing for only a couple of sucks and pulling off. I was trying to figure out why the baby wouldn't nurse. It was very vivid. I wonder if it has something to do with my last 2 not latching well? Why a pig? Very strange!!

I have had some very tender, emotional ex-boyfriend dreams, and felt so guilty! I'm glad to know it's not just me.
last night, though, the dream was I go to use the bathroom, and I'm bleeding. The reaction of my husband and family is, "Oh well. You weren't ready for a baby anyway." In real life, my family is totally supportive!

In the first trimester I had so many vivid dreams (anxiety, I think because of a miscarriage last Spring), so many that I didn't feel like I was sleeping at all. Finally the dreams have quieted down enough that I feel like I actually sleep at night, but I've taken to waking my husband up when I have the sexy dreams- it's worth it to lose the sleep.

I have had dreams about my little girl since I was a teenager. I still remember them, and how she looked at different ages. In one I was going through this broken down old city that was full of children looking for the right little girl and when I finally found her I felt the most amazing sense of relief. I've had this dream again a few times since I got pregnant. I don't know if she is the one that's with me now, but I know that I will find her someday.

I've also had dreams about my children playing with my friend's child, who has Down's. In the dream my son (!) is about five and has surpassed friend's little angel in cognitive/motor skills and looks at me confused because he doesn't want to play with "the baby toys" anymore even though she does. I think that my dreams were preparing me for a pretty likely moment in my life, and challenging me now to think about what to say and what my child will learn. Pretty intense...

Many months ago, around the time I got pregnant this time, I had a dream that I was having sex with a friend of a friend. Forgot all about that dream until last night, when I dreamt that I was trying to decided whether I should tell that friend of a friend about the baby I'm pregnant with now, and that it might be his!

Funny when one dream can reference another.

Hi, I'm not normally an erotic dreamer but when pregnant it's like every night and I sometimes am in the same scenario, same people etc. I wake up so ashamed!! Anyway, in the dreams I'm in charge, very sexy and powerful.

I also had a sweet dream when I first found out our baby has Down Syndrome, I was anxious about a lot of things but then had this dream I was blowing raspberries on an older baby's tummy and it was a baby with curly blonde hair and the typical almond-shaped eyes and just laughing hysterically. I was grateful for the dream as what it was really telling me was, it'll all be alright!

Sometimes I can't wait to sleep just to dream! Kitty

I thought this might get you all laughing. I can't even remember all of the specifics of the dream I had two nights ago, but I remember I kept running into all of these people pregnant with multiples. Most of them were really skinny...you definitely could not tell anyone was pregnant from behind, but there bellies stuck out so far, that each mom was running around holding her belly up. It was as if you could see each baby in his/her own little ball, one in front of the other. If you can picture someone trying to hold three basketballs in a row in front of their bellies.Very bizarre picture.
