I really am enjoying this thread too.

I like Cooper. I can picture a cute little boy with a sly grin on his face. lol

My dh and I have gotton nowhere on the girl names. He hates every one I bring up and only likes Madeline - which is a nice name - but I don't love it.
This weekend I am going to go through a baby book and write down all of the names that I like and give the list to dh. There has got to be some name that he will like. lol

Last pregnancy we went through this same thing, but with a boy name. Then all of a sudden dh says, what about Wilson? I am not sure where he came up with it, but after a day of saying it we decided we really liked it. Family just gave us "that look" when we told them. (You know, that, are you serious or joking questioning look) Wils great grandmother still won't call him Wilson - only calls him Wil and spells it Will because he deserves two l's. lol We just think it is funny.

I like Madeleine, with the French spelling, and you have to say it sort of with a French accent, like in "Quills" - MadeLEINE. Maddy, though, not so hot on. Funny, b/c my son's name is Maddox, but no one has tried to call him Maddy yet!

I love Cooper!

I've been liking names that end in -er this pregnancy...but can't use any of them because our last name ends in er! So no Cooper, Connor, Sawyer, etc. for us!

Yes, Tod and Copper, I remember that now! Yeah, um, that's what I was thinking... :LOL

We thought of another boy name this weekend... Zane Ocean, or Zane River.

Our last name ends with a "Z", so how cool would it be to have your name start with a "Z" and end with one?

We have tossed around a couple boy names:
Riley Joseph (a family name)
Ethan Daniel or Ethan Scott

And girl names:
Olivia Leigh Anne (not sure about how to spell Leigh Ann yet)
Rhianna (not sure of a middle name)

, , , mama to Ross , Reagan (8/29/05), Joshua (from Haiti...here NOW due to the earthquake!), and Elijah , born safely 9-8-09.

Oooh, my name is Leigh Olivia!

I always thought it would be better switched around. But, why the need for the Anne? Say it w/o the Anne, it sounds nice, don't you think?

I like Cooper too. And I don't think it's too common. I named my first Benjamin, which I love, but now it seems like I am meeting a lot of other Benjamins and I have this fear 5 other kids will answer when the teacher calls his name at school! Here is a good website that lets you see how popular a name is for any given year:

http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/

Also, tell me what you think of this. The baby's last name will end in y, so I have this hang up that the first name (or nickname) can't end in y or it's too cutesy. But that leaves out a lot of names! Would you avoid y ending names or not worry about it?

Also, one name I really like is Gus, but I can't use it because we have a close same age relative with that name (the child's official name is Gunnar Andreas).

I love your names! If I can offer up a spelling I am very partial to, Leanne {that's my name}. It isn't the most common spelling, but I really like it.

DH and I are still tossing around boy and girl names. He decided that he doesn't really like Lorelei as a name anymore. After saying it over and over I am not too fond of it either. Now we think maybe something like McKenna, MaKenzie, Mikaela Anne. I think we like Anne for the middle name since it is MIL's middle name and is the last half of my mother's and my name. Nothing cocrete for a boy except the middle name of Lee or Leland. I wonder if we will have names we like picked out before I go into labor... ?

Well...my dh is now unsure of the boy's name. It will probably be either Ryu or Thorin, but he's not sure...and he says maybe he'll find a completely different name he likes. I guess we'll see who the baby looks like when he's born (if it's a boy....which I kinda think it is!).

A girlfriend of mine just named her little boy Gavin Lee. I really like how that sounds together. Of course, I can't use it since she did, but I thought I'd throw it out there in case you like it!

I thought of one while I was experiencing pregnancy insomnia at 3:30 this morning...

Asza Marie Jade

(pronounced like Asia)

I think that jumped to the top of my list! Who says you can't have two middle names?

Sorry to barge in on this due date club! Just wanted to say that "Rowan" is the name we have picked out for a boy . . .the people I know in Ireland with that name are male . . .if we have a boy, is there a good chance his name will be mistaken for a girl's? I don't know many Rowans IRL, and none are female, but maybe I'm out of the loop!

Mizelenius: I know of two female Rowans and two male Rowans...I think it's become both a boy's and a girl's name. I also know both boys and girls with the names Riley, Noah, Jordan, Sawyer and Taylor.

Okay. I've been mulling over Elsa for a little while now and it's growing on me. Any thoughts on this name? I'm thinking it sounds good with Desmond, is easy to pronounce/spell, not too popular, won't have people trying to come up with nicknames, etc...

I think Elsa is really cute!

Here are my name lists:

Girls: Adia, Sailor, Ada, Marley, Malia, Ivy

Boys: Eben (DS's name ), Brecken, Beckett, Julius, Jonas, Landon, Holden

There are more, but bunches of them escape me at any given moment. :LOL

I love Elsa! Malia is cute, too!

We have our girl name set (Tayen Rainbow)...if it happens to be twin girls, then I'm not sure what the other girl will be...I keep changing my mind. Maybe Myn Alia. My dh probably won't pick a name for a boy until baby is born. He's torn between Ryu and Thorin right now, but knowing him will come up with another name during the next 24 weeks!

On behalf of my brother-in-law who is now expecting:

What do you think of Miah for a girl? His name is Jeremiah and he thinks it would be a cute way to name her after him.

My problem with it is that its already his nickname, so that would be confusing.

I like it better than Vahnessa, the name his gf likes.

ps. I love Elsa. In high school I would have killed to play Elsa in the Sound of Music, but I had to be the Mother Abbess instead.

I'm due in August but I thought I could throw out our names.
We actually have a list of boy and girl names all ready to go. When we use one we cycle to the next one. This baby will be Amy Elizabeth for a girl and Troy Douglas for a boy (named after daddy but first and middle name switched). Cooper sounds great since that's my last name. Someone was asking about Anne. I love that for a middle name. My dd is Holly Anne. Personally I think it should always be spelled with an "E" just like 'Anne of Green Gables'.

I also think that Anne is best with an "E". You are right about the 'Anne of Green Gables" reference. I thought of that book after dh and I decided on Anne as a middle name. I would never do Ann as my name is Leanne with an "E" and there are some other family connections. It would be nice to be able to use it. We shall see in another couple weeks though.

We are rethinking our names. Originally it was Rowan (girl) and Griffin/Finn (boy). We aren't entirely sold on Griffin but like Finn. We also really like Dashiell now, but may change the spelling - dh came up with Daschael. I am not sold on Rowan and am attracted to Maria to honor my aunt Mary who was the greatest. What do you all think?

I am all for the Finn name and any full name you decide would go best with it. I also really like the Maria name. It is nice that you want to honor your Aunt.
