Sorry if this is TMI, but I've never had anything like this before so I'm assuming it's a mild case of hemhorroids (sp?). Lots of itching and burning, and I feel a little, um, bumpy down there. Nothing huge...I just wish I could get a mirror around to really see what's going on, but that would take an acrobatic feat. :LOL

This sounds like hemhorroids, right? Any ideas on some natural relief?

I got them on and off this summer when I coughed due to allergies. I don't have a remedy to cure them. But I have a suggestion for body cleaning that worked for me.

I was using Irish Spring in the shower (my pregnancy hormones leave me REALLY funky so I needed to pull out the big guns). And I ran out and went back to using Dr. Bronners. I noticed that my hemoroids shrunk in a few days using Bronners vs. Irish spring.

I also broke down and used Tucks pads to make sure I was keeping the area clean (sorry TMI).

I'm interested to see if anyone has any other suggestions. I don't have any right now, but after my first birth I had them and it took forever for them to go away.

Good luck,

Joey

Thanks Joey...I have heard that the Tucks pads help. Just kind of looking for something holisitic and don't want to really go to my local health food store and advertise this...hehe...

Yeah, it is more on and off. Just seems to be kind of bad in the past couple of days...

Anyone else have any other suggestions?

Tucks are just witch hazel, I'm pretty sure. If you don't want to buy Tucks, you can buy a bottle of witch hazel and dab your butt with it (sorry to be so blunt!) It should help. I had very bad hems after my first, but they haven't been bad since then. oht

o.k. I'll definitely try the witch hazel. I'm going to mention it to my mw on Monday, too but that should help me through the weekend.

Thanks!

(geez...what pregnant women will talk about...)

my doula said that the best remedy she found was slicing a pinky finger size of pototo (raw) and sticking it up there (yeah your bum :LOL) and you just poop it out on your next BM..she said it really works. if i get hemhorroids with this birth, im going to try it!

Has worked AMAZINGLY for a few people I know. Start early, stick with it. You could also just buy the bulk herbs and make an infusion/tea. I'm told it works just the same and if you're vegan you can avoid the gelatin capsule.
