I've become somewhat frustrated with the show. I thought the same thing as journey, why did she automatically assume that her daughter was a terrorist? You'd think that a parent would assume the best of their child, especially their dead child. The storyline is also a little slow going. I don't like Samuel Adama at all either but I'm not much of a fan of mobsters and even less so of ones that bring children into their life of crime.

What I'm getting from Sam Adama and the grandma (Yes, she is super-evil!) is that these are the people that Willie is getting some of his life-advice from.

I think Sam told Willie that once you are on a path, it is best to stay on that path. (He also told him to admit to the small things, so people overlook the big bad that you did.) The grandma told him that's its best to get stuff from your enemies because they are afraid of you. (This was in reference to Willie saying that Joseph wouldn't be able to get him in as a ball-boy with the C-Bucs because he and Daniel weren't friends anymore.)

So I think part of their roles is to show us how they helped shape the person who would become the Admiral.

Also, in BSG, didn't the Admiral or Lee say that Joseph and Willie (the Admiral) didn't get along?

That's just my take on it.

Oh, and I LOVED Daniel bringing the cylon into the board meeting!

I'm not liking the Adama part of the story. The whole family is a mess of ethnic stereotypes. Lacy is my favorite character thus far.

Who tipped off Sister Claire that the police would be raiding the school lockers? Was that explained and I just missed it? Or is that still a mystery? Remember someone sent her a text while she and her husbands and wife were all waking up.

This last episode with Tamara Adama was very Matrix-like. I don't think that in BSG the cyborgs had this cyber parallel universe, did they?

I haven't watched the latest episode, because frankly I'm not sure I'm going to stick with it, but I had to respond to your last sentence.

Yes they did. Do you remember, in maybe season 3ish, when Baltar is on the cylon ship and Caprica reveals to him that the cylons all create their own reality? She tells him something like, "You just see the walls of the ship. I'm standing in a forest, surrounded by the beauty of nature." She calls it projection.

Thank you! I'd forgotten that.

Remember also that Hera was able to "join" Boomer's projection, even though she was half human?

lorijds, sorry you're not sticking around. Sometimes I'm just so bleh about it, too. I really wonder whether it is considered "successful" by Syfy or not. I truly wouldn't be surprised if it didn't come back after this first season.

DH thinks that it will run up to the advent of the 1st cylon war, but I think he's living in fantasy land!

I'm just really disappointed in it. I guess I thought, as a *DIE HARD* BSG fan, I would have more bones thrown to me. I expected more of a connection with BSG, even just little things that only BSGers would notice, but that would keep me watching. So far, with very very few exceptions, Caprica feels like a completely separate entity from BSG. Why am I not seeing the families of other BSGers? Can't the owners of the grocery store have the same last name as one of the characters in BSG? What do all the sheets of paper have corners?! Can't a common tattoo show up (like one of Starbucks?) Why have we only met the Adama family--surely there are other BSG families out there that we could meet. Why can't we have a brief, fleeting scene of one of the main characters standing in the museum at Caprica City, looking at the Arrow of Apollo that Starbuck returned to find and bring to Roslin? Why aren't the scrolls of Pythia ever mentioned? Why can't Joseph flick out that lighter every once in a while? How could it be such a good luck charm for Bill Adama, and I don't think I've even seen it in Caprica?

Why can't little things like that be woven into the background?

The atmosphere, the intensity, everything is slower and I find it boring and unfamiliar. It's simply not very interesting to me. Every time an episode was over, I feel like the storyline was advanced by inches, and the only reason I keep watching it is I keep hoping that THIS time, everything will start clicking into place, the connections will be made, and I'll have a big AHA moment. I'm beginning to think that isn't going to happen, though.

I totally agree with you lorijds!!! Everything you've described was exactly what DH and I expected from this show. Nothing big, just little subtle things.

We're so crazy that we started wondering when the skin jobs are created whose personality is inside?

And let's face it, I'm missing the eye candy role that can only be filled by Lee Adama!

I agree. All really great points. You're right, they're moving really slowly. They're connecting only a few dots.

* Zoe's faith in the one god is the root of the cylon's belief.

* Tamara Adama's personality is probably in their personalities, as well. Not sure how, yet. She's ruthless like her father and uncle. That really is a beautiful irony, that her brother becomes the cylons' foe.

<rumination> Joseph Adama = biblical Adam. Perhaps his wife isn't Eve, but Daniel Graystone is. Perhaps this makes Zoe Graystone and Tamara Adama Cain and Abel. Or Abel and Cain.

It's notable that the terrorist act on the part of Zoe's boyfriend (organized by Sister Claire?) sparks the creation of the Cylons. </rumination>

I like your points Journeymom, especially your thoughts on whose personalities go into the cylons. Makes a lot of sense.

Haven't watched last night's episode yet, need to spool up the old DVR.

Okay, not a bad episode.

How does Vergis know that Daniel was behind the theft? Is he just guessing? Did I miss something?

Do you think the person Sister Claire or Clarisse (I can't remember) is speaking with in the holo-net or whatever it's called is someone we know already from the series?

It's Clarisse. I realized I was using the wrong name with this last episode.

I think whomever she's talking to in the holo-confessional booth is someone we haven't met yet. But it's my guess that someone at the police department who tipped her off about the locker check.

Off to look up names...

The head of the police investigation department is played by Peter Wingfield, who was Methos in the Highlander TV series. So he might become more significant.

The new season starts next week on October 5th (in the US). It's weird to me that this and Universe will air on Tuesdays rather than Fridays. It just seems like a lot of brooding for the middle of the week.
