I will be! I am waiting for the second air time later tonight as the kids will be in bed by then.

Even DH is excited and thinks it looks good. He likes this show better than the teen mom one.

WOW! My heart is breaking for that little baby. That girl really needs to give him up to a family that will care for him

Watched it last night. I wonder if she is suffering from ppd? She just seemed so disconnected. She's really lucky to have her mom in her life.

I missed it last night and thankfully was able to catch it on mtv.com today. This show shows a lot of tough situations but I think it is for the greater good that young people can get a glimpse of what parenthood *could* look like if they weren't ready; however, (BIG however), my only complaint is that they never show how wonderful it could be when young people make good decisions. I guess Caitlynn and Tyler did what was best for them...but what about the single moms who make it work, are responsible, etc? I was a teen mom and made it work. It irks me that many of these young moms are selfish, mean, and just plain irresponsible..yet, I know that is a concern. However, b/c of stereotypes like that, I had a difficult entry to motherhood when other people wanted to judge me simply on age. Thank god I found LLL and midwifery --- that really empowered me. Many young women aren't so lucky though. The show is hard to watch, but it is food for thought.

I love that show.

I think last season Maci was doing a great job. Her relationship was volatile and sad (and reminds me of my own, unfortunately) but as far as mothering Bentley she was great about it.

I'll have to catch the new season on MTV.com!

I think Maci did a very good job with mothering. My only complaint is that she didn't kick Ryan's worthless ass to the curb earlier. I understand her reasoning and I think she has a lot of wisdom, but I feel bad for the length of time she put up with Ryan. That guy is a real putz to put it nicely.

p.s. -- you may want to catch the episode soon, because last season they took them down at one point, to increase actual tv viewership, I guess...but that was frustrating to have to WAIT to see the episodes I missed! I need to remember to set my tivo...but in many ways it is just easier to watch in mhy room on my laptop. I don't really want my little ones watchng this show due to a lot of the tough issues they aren't ready for, iykwim.

I think they leave the episodes up for a week, then take them down for a month or so before putting them up again. I'm not totally sure why it works that way, but other shows are like that too.

I would bet that they don't show the moms that make it work because it wouldn't be as good of TV without all the drama! I think MTV also gets a good bit of criticism for "glorifying" teen parenthood with the show, so I think they'd have a tough time showing a teen mom & her partner who made everything work and lived happily ever after. I think it would be nice to see a mom that make it work, but I can see the reasons why they'd choose to show more dysfunctional moms too...

Exactly what I was thinking. Farrah is super mom compared to this girl. Sad, really.

The new girl they profiled really made me sad. She truly had no idea what it was to be a mother and was just completely not prepared for the responsibility it took. To make matters worse, her mother kept trying "help" by telling her constantly what she was doing wrong but it just ended up making things worse. It sucks because IME that's not the norm for most teenage mothers. The girls from last season seemed much better prepared to be mothers, even Farrah with her partying.

The thing that really PEEVED me with this episode was the fact that they kept refering the baby as an it, instead of acknowledging that he is a baby with a name, also the fact that she was so out of touch with reality and made it seem like her and the boyfriend would be together forever.

I actually felt really bad for the girl. She was clearly completely unprepared for motherhood and the adult role that it is. It seems like the parents of the teen moms expect them to suddenly be able to mature to the level that a parent needs to be at overnight. And if not or they behave like the children they are, then they get into screaming matches with them.

I am watching the episode online now. I am only halfway through so I can't comment yet on the whole thing. But I am very happy to see that she is breastfeeding! I saw a lot of bottle feeding on last season so this made me happy

At least they showed her trying. And then went on to show how much of a pain she thought it was to have to make bottles, especially in the middle of the night.

Okay, so I finished the episode. It was very sad to me that they were talking about the child like he was a family pet that wasn't working out and needed to be rehomed So sad When the Grandmother asked if they should find a family "to take care of it".

Ugh.

And I found it interesting that her two friends tried to gently suggest ways for her to be a better Mom. That was awesome, what insightful young women they were

I hope it all works out for the family. It seems that the Grandmother and her boyfriend can provide the care the child needs. It has to be hard to be a teen Mom, though, I can't imagine. Hopefully she can get the support she needs

I was excited to see the nurse helping her latch the baby but I think that might have been the only time the baby nursed

About calling the baby "it":
I noticed that Farrah's mom did the same thing and it drove me nuts. She never called Sophia by her name, only "The Baby" or "Baby."
I didn't think the mom on the most recent episode was trying to be mean when she was comparing the baby to a puppy, etc. I think she was at the end of her rope and was desperate to get through to her daughter. I felt really bad for the grandma. I really wonder what would have happened if she had just refused to take care of Jace so much made Jenelle deal with the responsibility...

This. I noticed that this time around, the show has a totally different focus. Last time, this show started earlier in the pregnancy and followed the girls as they came to grips with the pregnancy and then the delivery, and then a little bit of time with the baby. This time, I think they started at 30 weeks and started right off the bat with stuff going wrong. They were sending a really clear message: teen motherhood is HARD.

Teens for some reason, sometimes think pregnancy is cute. I can't explain it. The teen girls I work with are always talking about how cute I am and obsess over my baby. I'm careful to remind them that I'm 25 and have been married for over 2 years to the love of my life... and that pregnancy is anything but cute. I think maybe that's why MTV is skipping the pregnancy part and skipping straight to the mothering part. Pregnancy is only 9 months where everyone pays attention to you, pampers you, and treats you like a celebrity... followed by reality.

On the other hand, I think its a disservice to all the girls who DO make it work. I don't know which is a better role model to the girls who watch these shows.

I just watched the new episode and it really made me sad..really, really sad.

So many things, I really am not even sure where to start. The baby's dad cursing her out on the phone..I was so glad she left him.

I too was excited to see her at least attempt to breastfeed but then I was just beside myself when I saw her put a bottle in the microwave!!!!!!!!!

That poor sweet little boy. He is so precious.

I also really hate how it seems like the parents of the teen moms on the show are always yelling at their daughters in front of the babies. But I guess if the family dynamics were good in the first place, as others have mentioned, it might not make good tv. : (

I saw Jenelle's (that's her name right?) mom as just being completely stressed out and that's why she was acting that way. I don't really blame her. She had to get a baby ready for day early in the morning, then put 8-9 hours in at a job then come home and care for a baby all night while her daughter partied.

I also was glad to see Jenelle nursing. I know she didn't stick with it but it was good to see someone try. I hope the show is a reality check for teenagers who don't get how hard it really is to be a teen mother.

I watched the first one last night. It made me really sad and so pissed for the grandmother. Jenelle is the most immature mom on this show yet (please let her keep that title but let her out grow it very soon). I understand why the grandmother lost it. For one she's sleep deprived from raising a newborn and working full time and most of all she's watching her daughter neglect her child, that can not be easy. Jenelle didn't seem at all bonded with her son, her indifference to him was heartbreaking to me. He seemed like nothing more than an inconvenience to her.
Jenelle's friends though (not the ones she was always out partying with) were impressive and I wish she would have listened to them more.
The father of the baby OH boy, he needs to get help with his alcohol issues and his verbal abusiveness. But I guess he's out of the picture at this point (or whenever the show was filmed).
Just a sad situation on this episode and thank goodness the baby has his grandmother.

OUR DAUGHTERS ARE PROTECTED SHOULDN'T OUR SONS BE TOO! :

When does this show normally air? Has the second show come on yet? I have been watching the Olympics so I haven't been seeking out other shows.

You can find it online and today in the next couple hours they are doing a rerun of it.

I think it normally airs on Tuesday nights though.

I was disappointed that the nurses didn't help her bf until day two in the hospital.

I also wish that g-ma would have stopped yelling at Janelle over the baby. It was bad enough that the baby wasn't being held while having a bottle. They didn't need to yell over him too
