Could she have waited until they got home and still had an accurate test?

no. it's not SOP to test at someones birthday party and they didn't need to dtd at that exact moment anymore than you store frozen sperm in your freezer ( it's actually stored in liquid nitrogen tank) like they showed in season 1. It's all made up for entertainment value.

I don't know how this works either, but I thought Julia was explaining this to Joel at the start of the show. She got him all riled up and then slammed on the breaks, on purpose. Maybe the idea is that he needs to save it all up until she's optimally fertile. Seemed pretty mean , though! orngbiggrin.gif

The ovulation tests turn positive when it detects an LH surge, which happens approx 48 hours before you ovulate. The writers making her say that she just tested and she is Oing NOW is pure literary license.

Yeah, I remember thinking "That's not how it works!"

Any thoughts on last nights episode? I felt bad for Crosby until he called the specialist the babysitter. Christine usually bugs me but last night my heart hurt for her when she went to the specialist (don't remember her name) close to tears because she helps Max so much.

My biggest impression from last night was all. the. yelling. Most weeks there's a fair amount of yelling going on, but oh man, I felt last night was over the top. I tuned most of it out.

I did feel for Christina last night too ... after the huge melt-down with Max and then going to the therapist, she got my sympathy. I think the whole debacle with Crosby was much too predictable. I know people often take one step forward and sometimes five back in the process of "growing up" but to have Crosby so easily fall back to square one after all the attempts at maturing, was a bit too much for me. I'm hoping next week is better because I really didn't enjoy last night's episode.

Honestly, I'd rather see Crosby with Gaby than with Jasmine, even though I don't condone what he did. Jasmine is just too high maintenance and controlling.

Agreed about Crosby and Gaby.  They're a cuter couple.  I loved Jasmine for the longest time then when her additude changed so did my love for her!

I agree. Yes, he was wrong, but Jasmine has been so controlling lately. And I adore Gaby. I personally have never met someone with Asperger's, but I cannot imagine being in her profession. I know that I could never have that job.

Sidney's little face when she wouldn't eat the lasagna or the seton was hysterical. And really - what's so wrong with a six-year-old wanting to be a vegetarian? Zeke is getting on my nerves.

I felt bad for Jasmine last night but agree she and Crosby don't work well together. I don't particularly care for him with Gaby either though. I was surprised her meddlesome mama wasn't in Crosby's face to remind him of how irresponsible she feels he is.

Is no one going to ask MAX about school? Does he get zero say in the decision? I know he's "a kid" and all...but his happiness kind of affects everything

I wouldn't ask Max, personally I don't see him having the capacity to understand the full consequences of the decision.

Can someone tell me if anything happened at the end of the show?  My PVR cut off the end of the show and I haven't been able to watch it online (I'm in Canada so it's blocked a lot).  The last I saw was Julia telling Joel that her chances of becoming pregnant were very slim due to the uterine scarring.  Did anything happen after that?

I've always kind of loved Christina and could relate to her.  I have that type A personality where I feel the need to organize and control everything even though it's not always for the best.  She's a much deeper character than I think people thought at the beginning of the show.

One of the many things I love about this show is that I end up having something in common with characters I thought I was nothing like. Julia's busy executive life is alien to me but I've had fertility issues and that look when she hugged her mom. bawling.gif

There were things about the characters going to the prom that resonated with me even though that usually leaves me cold in other TV shows. (No not THAT.)

Amber is the one who has me baffled. She did all that work in school for her mom? Just to go to Berkley? Are there no community colleges in that area, no quirky little liberal arts colleges, no state schools? GAH! Would someone at least say that to her. Camille maybe. She won't listen but the black and whiteness of how she is viewing the world is unsettling.

I'm watching!!! I love this show. Christina is still getting on my nerves. Julia is my absolute favorite. As a (former)whom my heart goes out to her so much; sometimes I have to remind myself that she's an actress!

So do you suppose the actress who plays Julia really broke her arm?

Did Amber apply only to UC Berkley?

She must have broken her arm IRL because it was so random and abrupt. Maybe there was another cut scene with the ice skating bit?

Amber applied to one other place as a "safety" school and she didn't get in there either.

I want to know how much Crosby paid for the fixer-upper. I was kind of getting annoyed with Adam over the whole thing (sure, Crosby made a crap decision about going to bed with the aid, but, really? She made a crap decision too if it meant she had to quit her job. Why is no one angry with her? If you can't bear to be around former lovers ever, than don't sleep with people attached to your employment!) so I'm glad they made up.

I don't know about the arm.. but Amber applied to one safety school and berkley.

Agh! I can't belive crosby bought the house.... but I loved the end of the episode. I feel like they've nailed the family dynamics so well... this fits my family to a tee
(except everyone's a bit older).

Did anyone watch last night's episode yet? Wowwwwww and the little preview of next weeks season finale! Holy moly.

I think Crosby is off his rocker and I fear it won't work even though somehow I find myself rooting for the dude. I agree with the PP about how there was no real backlash at the aid, I guess because Crosby is the screw up they took it all out on him.

Maddie and Amber, what can I say!? I felt sorry for Adam when he said he missed when Maddie was little and it was so simple. Everyone keeps telling me that preschoolers are easier than teenagers and it's so interesting to see how they are so similar yet infinitely more complex.

I personally found the preschool years much harder than the teen ones, I have a 21 year old.

Anyway, I wish they would just wrap up whatever the final outcome is going to be with Crosby and Jasmine. Enough already they are dragging this out. I've been expecting them to breakup and her take the kid and go back to NY for awhile now.

As for the preview, I think it's Christina that is the one that is pregnant. I just don't think it's Haddie but of course that will be Adam's first thought. And can Adam please get a new job. I can't believe he hasn't gone postal yet with the new boss.

Amber, she is just getting on my nerves as usual. Enough already. Go to community college and do a junior year transfer to Uni. Talk about a drama queen.

I think Haddie is fine. Yes, maybe young to have sex, but she seemed to have chosen a decent guy. I do wish that Christine had asked if she wanted to go on the Pill instead of JUST using condoms.

Amber on the other hand is just spiraling out of control. It's not that she didn't get into college or is doing drugs or hanging out with weird guy. Just one of those things wouldn't have been so bad, but all together and major change in attitude (she was never really one to drink/do drugs because of her Dad etc) it just shows how she's sort of given up. I was TOTALLY with her when she said to her mom that she's been doing what her mom wants this whole time and it hasn't been working so it's time to do what SHE wants.... I thought she was going to get a job waitressing and write songs. I didn't think she'd throw her life away.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Amber getting into a car accident is sort of lame. You would ASSUME that it would make her fly straight at this point (yay! I'm not dead!) but it seems like such lazy writing.

And yes, they better tie up the Jasmine/Crosby thing soon.

Oohhhhh it could be Christina as the pregnant one... I know if I was Haddie, I wouldn't just be throwing a positive pregnancy test in the home garbage.

Spoiler is related to the orginaly PH movie

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Everyone ends up pregnant ;) If they were following the movie then Amber would have been the first to get pregnant, followed by Christina, and then the two sisters (their names are escaping me right now)...

Haddie wouldn't end up pregnant but then in the orginal movie the equivilant to Christina and Adam didn't have a teenager yet...

I think Christina and Adam only handled it "ok"... and a LOT better than I thought they would. But Haddie seems like a good kid, a smart kid... maybe a little immature but not in a bad way... more just like she needs a few more years under her belt ;)

I *LOVE* this show and I am not ready for it to be the Season Finale!

I like the story with Adam's goofy boss, though I want to strangle the guy on Adam's behalf sometimes.  The stories take place in Berkeley and I think it's supposed to reference a certain crunchy, post hippy, post 60s vibe.  But Adam and Kristina, Julia and Joel could live in any upperwardly mobile middle class neighborhood in the US.  So with Adam's boss at least there's some alternative life/youth culture referenced.

So did Zeek and Camille name Crosby after David Crosby? I can totally see it. It was Camille's idea, Zeek just went along with it.

Edited to spell Kristina's name correctly...
