I live in Canada and just watched the CBC segment on his re-election ad campaign...

Anyone care to comment? Are these ads disrespecting the 9/11 tragities? I saw them and thought so, but I am biased.

What are your thoughts?

Well, I am NOT a bush fan at all, but I didn't even think twice about his including 9-11 in his campain add. It was only after watching the news that I realized people were offended by it. It was something that happened during his term, so I guess I just assumed he'd include it...:

I read in the paper that his ads contained images of 9/11 and that people were offended. I can see why. Especially when I read that one image was of firefighters carrying a flag-draped stretcher. So somebody's deceased loved one is being used to further Bush's campaign. That is just not right, IMO.

He's using it because he'd like us to believe that the policies and actions resulting from it have been good for us, have made our country better and safer.

I totally disagree with that, so that is one reason I don't care for those ads.

Also, many many people who have lost family members etc in that tragedy have asked that the repubs not try to capitalize on that. But they are anyway.

I seen the ad. I think it is the bush haters that started the offended nonsense. Geez , it was a very serious terrorist attack on our country and there are many of us who are glad that bush is in charge. If the previous administration had been paying attention it probably would've never happened. I think bush has every right to remind people of what happened less than 4 years ago.

I don't think the "Bush haters" started this, IMO he stepped over the line and offended the families and also parents on this board. This stunt should basically REMIND people that it's election year in the US.

FDR had campaign ads with the tag line. "I remember Pearl Harbor"....just seems like part of what his Presidency has dealt with.
Of course, no matter what he would have in an ad, there are many who would be bothered. Seems like MANY on these boards find him responsible for most of the bad in the world.
What the heck, I had 8 long years to rant about Clinton so it doesn't bother me.
