I was setting up the DVR tonight to start recording all the new (and returning) shows. It's so hard to know what's worth recording though.

Any theories on what might be good?

I was doing the same thing last week, setting up recordings for new stuff. I don't know, I just read the show descriptions online and on tivo and went from there only recording what I felt was worth trying out. I'm pretty frustrated with tv anyway, the very few things I like usually get canceled while reality tv and other shows I'm not interested in proliferate.

No Ordinary family looks good, maybe The Event, but it depends on how quickly that one picks up. Flash forward(as an example) moved SO slow, that I just didn't care anymore and stopped watching.

Do not bother with Mike and Molly. It was awful.

I watched about 30 minutes of Hawaii 5-0. The cast is very attractive but even pretty wasn't enough to keep me interested in a rather uninteresting storyline and a lot of cheesy lines.

I didn't watch The Event but after hearing about it, I might try and catch it online.

I wanted to like Mike and Molly. There were funny bits with the leads but the supporting characters were awful. The buddy cop was stereotype city!

The Event was awesome! That was on last night at 9 ... probably is on Hulu or Nbc.com. I'm thinking of maybe The Whole Truth might be good, too ... but I think that starts Wednesday.

This season seems kind of lackluster as far as new shows I'm excited about.

The only two that somewhat caught my attention were No Ordinary Family (hopefully it stays good/interesting longer than Heroes?) and Hellcats (which I forgot to record!). Anyone seen it? Is it funny?

I watched some of the new shows here is my short review

The Event- it was ok, I'm giving it a second chance
Outsourced- I deleted it after watching the first 10 minutes
Hawaii 5-0 - I liked it and I got a season pass for now
Chase- didn't like the begining, but it got better. I'm giving it a second look
Raising Hope- ugh deleted it after the first 5 minutes, wretched
Lonestar- I don't know, they lost me at the end. I was really encouraged that he seemed to get a backbone and want to change his life and then they pulled the rug out of that.
Outlaw- talk about cliché. I deleted it after the first 10 minutes, hated it.

Those were all the ones I cared to try that aired so far.

I am so bummed about Outsourced. I had read a good article about it (article was about the premise, and not a review of the show itself) and was hopeful it would be more than stereotypes and potty jokes. Oh, well.

Anyone else catch Raising Hope? I thought it was pretty funny, although I could have done without the vomit/poop/baby-almost-harmed "humor." I love Martha Plimpton so it was really great to see her.

We watched Raising Hope. At first I didn't like it. I didn't like the whole mom being electrocuted thing, or the fact that the parents (grandparents) were being so mean. But, I imaging the mom/death penalty thing is over and done with and will barely be mentioned again. And the grandparents ended up being pretty sweet. I did like that nobody ever suggested they let the baby just cry

At first I was like, "OMG! This is SO NOT FUNNY!" and DH pointed out that I was looking at it like it was real life or something, and that I needed to calm down a bit. Once I started looking at it more from a My Name is Earl perspective, it got funnier.

I ended up liking The Whole Truth, The Event, My Generation ...

I wasn't crazy about Raising Hope, Running Wild or Outsourced. I just didn't think any of them were that funny -- Raising Hope was the funniest, and it made me feel yucky watching it (it must be the type of humor that I'm not used to).

I agree with this post about Raising Hope. I laughed out loud at some parts and it made me cry at the end when the grandparents were singing to the baby. It is definitely over the top, you just have to roll with it and recognize it for what it is, and not get too excited about the lack of proper baby safety gear/procedures (which would rile me up on pretty much any other show).

I also liked Raising Hope - I definitely did not take it seriously except when I yelled "TURN OUT THE LIGHTS" at the TV when he was trying to get her to sleep with every light in the house on...

I didn't take Raising Hope seriously, I just really am not interested in stupid style comedy. It sounds like it got even worse after I turned it off from reading here. I'm sure it will be a hit though, the same reason Jerry Springer and his ilk are still on tv.

I've been watching it and I kinda like it. I'll definetely stick with it.

About raising hope...I'm watching it right now, I missed the pilot and I must agree. It's weird humor. The little girl is cute and the 'dad' seems to care so I'll watch it and see what happesn.

I really wanted to like Chase but something was really off about it. I can't quite articulate it beyond to say that it felt oddly contrived.

I'm liking The Whole Truth, but not sure if i care for the gimmicky last minute where you find out "what really happened"....but the cast is good.

I've recorded No Ordinary Family but havent watched yet.

Is anyone watching Detroit 1-8-7 ? I havent yet, but they were filming about a mile from my house yesterday, and my sister got to watch them. That kind of excitement doesnt usually happen where we live!

I'm glad my old regulars are back on: Greys Anatomy, Private Practice, Biggest Loser, Brothers and Sisters, and Survivor.

I watched No Ordinary Family, and I liked it until the last part. I really am not interested in another Heroes. It would like it better if it didn't have the conspiracy and no good superpowers vs bad superpowers. BTDT.
