Ugh! This makes me want to :Puke . The Swan

Quote:
THE SWAN offers women the incredible opportunity to undergo physical, mental and emotional transformations with the help of a team of experts. Contestants must go through an intensive “boot camp” of exercise, diet, therapy and inspiration to achieve their goals. Each week feathers will fly as the inevitable pecking order emerges. Those not up to the challenge are sent home. Those who are will go on to compete in a pageant and become “The Ultimate Swan.”

Each contestant has been assigned a panel of specialists -- a coach, therapist, trainer, cosmetic surgeons and a dentist -- who together have designed the perfect individually tailored program for her...

Extreme makeover has bothered me for a similar reason, but this goes too far. Let's turn them into entirely different people, all the while let's keep them away from the families and support systems, and then let's have them compete in a beauty contest. Woo hoo!

count me in as a woman who is disgusted by this show. and i feel bad for people who are so vain as to resort to surgery (on tv, no less) to *fit in* with society's view on what's attractive.

there is a show on MTV, 'becoming,' i think. they showed these two kind of homely twins, around 18 i guess. their dream was to look like brad pitt, so they BOTH underwent like 3-4 different surgical procedures.

everyone who had ignored them before was really nice & attentive to the new & improved twins. :

it just makes me sick that these shows perpetuate the myth that beauty = popular. i think some of the female celebrities who have recently had surgery (meg ryan comes to mind) were so pretty in the first place, after surgery they look like :

i'll probably watch the swan, though, just to try to get in the minds of those poor women.

I think it's teh smae thing as extreme make over but at least they offer diet and exercise with this one versus just cosmetic surgery. I woudln't watch either show. Cosmetic surgery makes me nervous(all surgery makes me nervous).

I saw the commecial last night and I was repulsed. It made me really sad for those women who think they need all of that crap to be beautiful.
