I instantly fell in love with Game of Thrones. It's definitely not safe for children, but great if you've got a night without them to relax and watch some television. Tyrion Lannister is perhaps my favorite, next to John Snow and Brienne of Tarth. This is such a fantastic show, and the story has such depth that I can never watch one episode at a time. Good thing this series isn't real, and the world wasn't created by George R. R. Martin. He would kill off just about everyone worth keeping in the first 5 minutes.

We finally got season 3 from the library. DH is now fully into the story, thank in part to the "bubbies" I'm sure, but also to Peter Dinklage and Tyrion's character. He had heard about the "die-off" in season 4, but was unprepared for season 3 and I had a hard time keeping mum. My palms were sweating and my heart pounding as I waited for the inevitable in episode 9 of season 3. Hard to keep quiet. Of course, dh was almost totally surprised. I got up from the couch at the conclusion of that episode and my knees were knocking. I was totally taken off guard in the books, and seeing it on the screen cemented the fabulous angst I felt about the events.

Speaking of killing of all the characters, with the books I'm left hanging and hanging and hanging at the end of book 5, and "no, not that character too" and I concoct all the reasons why not, but I did that with all the previous beloved characters and all my wishing and whining couldn't bring them back to life. This time I think I'm right, but.......

Yeah, never get attached to anyone in this series!

I joked with DH and said that you just cannot relax while watching this show (after that awful fight scene with Prince Oberyn, I was so disturbed!) Every episode is so intense, but the show is awesome for that very reason.

Anyone know when the new season airs?

I'm caught up on the TV show and midway through book 2. I agree, Daeneres and Khal Drogo's relationship in the book is so sweet.....

I'm bummed that they depict Tyrion as so physically unattractive in the book; I find him quite good looking in the show. And his voice... wish he would read me a racy audiobook! It would have to be in his British accent, though

I'm really enjoying the books, even as much as the show. I'm almost done with the books that are so far published and can't wait for the show to catch up!

New season starts April 12. They just released a trailer for it today. You can google "GoT S5 trailer" and find a site with it. I am about to start book 4 (which is what's showing for S5) because I like to read alongside the series. So I will finish it right before the show starts and I can easier remember what changed or is different.

The events in books 4 and 5 run (roughly) concurrently. They were originally going to be one book, but it was too much. Jon's story is in book 5. I'm guessing you will want to read both before starting season 5.
