What do you think of GCB?  I've watched twice now, and I haven't figured out if I like it or not.

I used to live in Plano, where this is set.  I've known some of these characters.  The rich bitches, the cattiness, the big hair, the focus on appearance and money, the secretly gay cowboys, the high school cheerleaders that get breast implants over summer, the assumption that EVERYone is Christian, the use of church to further one's own ambitions, the shopping excursions at Neiman's, the society luncheons - I've lived this (not that I participated - I was probably considered a not-wealthy, geeky javelina with glasses).  It's all familiar.

And parts are really funny to me.

But I guess I don't find people being mean to each other entertaining.  It's like they never outgrew high school.

(Maybe that's why I moved AWAY from Plano?)

By the way, when I lived in Plano, that little city had both the highest per-capita heroin use in the nation, AND the highest teen suicide rate in the nation.  Too much money, too much time, and too little parental supervision.

So, what's YOUR take on GCB?

Thanks for telling me what GCB stands for... I had the slightest idea!

Anyway, I watched my first episode this week.  I thought it was OK, but not something I would watch regularly.  I don't like watching shows where that type of meanness and cattiness is a central component to the storylines.

I do LOVE Kristen Chenowith, though, so I imagine if I am sitting around with nothing else to do, I'd probably watch another episode.

The book that the television series is based on is actually called Good Christian Bitches.  And in international markets, that's the title of the television series, too.  But that wouldn't fly here in the US, so they changed it to Belles.

I got really used to watching Downton Abbey on Sunday evenings, and then that ended, and GCB started.  So, for me, it was kind of a "sitting around with nothing else to do" type of thing.
