My daughter will be six in a couple of months, and I'm wondering what other six-year-olds of parents here watch (those who do watch some television).

My daughter doesn't watch a whole lot, but she usually watches one or two programs a day. We don't allow her to watch anything with commercials, so it's mostly PBS and then we use the "on-demand" feature of our digital cable - HBO Family has quite a few cute shows, such as "Country Mouse," a show about two mice who travel to different countries and have adventures while learning about the culture. We have also discovered the Anne of Green Gables animated series on PBS, which we adore. We also watch "magic School Bus" when we can - my daughter loves science.

However, I'm having a hard time finding shows that aren't too babyish but are still entertaining and not full of the stuff so many kids' shows are full of - namely the assumption that all girls and boys hate each other, as do all siblings, and that teasing and bullying and being a wiseass are a normal and acceptable part of the grade school social scene.

Any recommendations?

On PBS "Between The Lions" is good all about spelling and reading! Also "Zoom" is simple and educational, the kids are a little older (11 yo or so) so the lil ones feel they are mature watching it...lol Depending on your feelings, my 7yo loves when she catches that history cartoon..."Liberties Kids" Being we live near Philadelphia and she sees the actual places the cartoon depicts, it is educational for her.

My 7yo loves "Lazytown" but that is for a preschool crowd-basically meant to be interactive and danced with-it is also on Nickelodean.

Keep in mind, my 7yo isa tv addict and loves anything. We have to majorly limit it...lol So she may not be the best judge-but those are my picks!

My dd just turned 6 and she enjoys Zoom, also. We all LOVE Little Bear - he is our fave...thankfully, she still enjoys it too. It's so calming. She also likes to watch Boomerang - on there they show old cartoons ... she likes Deputy Dog alot and The Scooby Laf-a-lympics. :LOL

She also likes to watch the pet videos ... those amazing pets (or animals) or something like that on animal planet.
She has seen the one you mentioned a couple of times .. the city mouse and country mouse. She also likes George and Martha on HBO Family.

We like "Magic School Bus", "Liberty Kids", "Anne of Green Gables", "Arthur", "Cyberchase", and my DS (7) likes some shows on Discovery Kids channel, I can't remember their names, also he enjoys the History channel, but he is sort of a history nut.

My daughter (5) likes "amazing animals" on animal planet channel.
