Has anyone seen this on TLC lately? DS was very awake at midnight, so I headed out to the couch so dh wouldn't wake up. After ds fell asleep, I found this program on TLC.

Can this still possibly happen in our world? It was so sad to see these children outcast by their parents, but amazing at their will to survive and how the dogs that they turned to cared for them. What disturbed me the most was the story of Jeanette (I think that was her name) whose father had her locked in a cage all her life, made the mother and brother stay away and NONE of the neighbors knew about her.

It really illustrated the point that we need to feel love and a loving touch as often as possible as children. It made me hold ds a little tighter and I'm so thankful that dh and I have an abyss full of hugs and kisses for this boy.

Yes, I saw that in the middle of the night and it totally freaked me out. The stuff about the brain structure changing from lack of attention/use was very interesting, I thought.

I just watched this the other night too, and even though I have seen it before and studied it in one of my grad classes, it gets me near tears every time. It just makes me look at my kids...one who talks nonstop and the baby (who talks in his own way)--and embrace every verbal and physical interaction with them.

Yea I watched it some time ago.
It really disturbed me that people/parents
could be so cruel to their children (their own
blood). Animals don't even treat their offsprings
like that. It brought me to tears, that little boy
that was raised by dogs. So sad. They deserve
the world, and so much more.

I have watched this special a few times. Jeannie's story is just unbelievable. Off topic, Dave Pelzer's books "A Child Called It" were also very disturbing. I can't believe people can be so cruel to a sweet innocent child, it just boggles my mind. :
