This show is hilarious! Has anyone else watched it? It only has one episode so far (the second episode is on tonight). Nick and I could not stop laughing!

http://www.hbo.com/conchords/

It is on HBO Sunday at 10:30pm.

DH and I loved it! Very funny, creative idea for a show. The song lyrics are brilliantly bad, and the writing is hilarious. "Well, more of a love square, really, since there were four of them."

I love it! I find Jemaine strangely sexy. And the songs are hysterical...and the deadpan delivery just kills me!

omg, isn't on demand the greatest? their stand-up special is on there, too.

i love that one song where he says, "talkin' bout the issues but we're keepin' it funky."

Just saw this on demand too and I LOLed more than once!

I think my favorite part was during the robot song where it went "the humans are dead!" "affirmative - I poked one it was dead." The delivery made it.

Unfortunately we're getting rid of cable this week, so I guess I'll just have to Netflix the rest of it when it comes out. ;(

Me love.gif, DH guitar.gif, and DD baby.gif9/27/10!

Yes, yes. All of the above! Glad to see there is a thread started for FOTC! It's my new favorite!

Oh, and don't you just love Bret's weird 1980's animal screenprint sweatshirts?! And Murray and Mel and Dave. Dave! He's a funny dude. "Flip 'em the bird."

Okay, now I am re-watching them all on You Tube and 'Part-time Model' is pretty hilarious too. And 'If You're Into It".

Anyone know where I can find the lyrics online?

I found this show on Demand as well. I love it! "It's business time" really cracked me up. So did "part time model".

I love the innocence of the two, and I think Jermaine is sexy too. Although I think about it too much, b/c I once I started I thought based on his character he might be really clumsy in bed. IRL I bet better...

My dh used to dress like Bret, in the 90s. We were laughing as he made a comment about how he liked that tiger sweatshirt. He would still dress like that if I let him.

One of the comments that cracked me up was when they had a band meeting and talked about gigs -they suggested to Murray that they play at night since that is when most bands play. And Murray gave them that reflective belt to be safe in NYC since it is so dangerous. And then got mugged....

This whole show is just too funny.

That show is HILARIOUS!

I've only watched two episodes at a friend's house and am seriously considering ponying up for HBO just to watch it.

I forgot to mention last night's episode. It was so funny! I am so gad I was able to stay awake when I go home from work. I was so tired yet was able to still be laughing my ass off by the first song. Priceless.

Anyone else missing Mel lately? She hasn't had many scenes at all compared to earlier episodes in the season. I loved the scene where she was at the Fan Club meeting with Murray (literally "fan," as in singular ) and he told her about Bret's girlfriend. "Is she stupid?" Her timing was so spot-on!

And:

Talking to Jemaine after he got out of jail after being mugged:

"Did they strip search you?" (Mel)

Jemaine: "No, they didn't"

Mel: (look of extreme lust on her face, as if imagining the strip search) "Did they find anything"

Jemaine: "I said they didn't strip search me."

WHO'S THE BOOM KING????

I think the show is one of the funniest I've ever seen. I love the subtle humor. For some reason, it's Bret who I think is the cute one OMG---the David Bowie dream sequence And the fact one of the guys who mugged them is now a close friend. Gemaine's closet apartment. And anytime I've seen someone "flipping the bird"--all I can think of is Bret, Gemaine and the veggie stand guy Flapping their hands like a real bird....I missed this week's episode and can't wait to catch up.

I'm the boom king

I have retired from administration work, so if you have a question about anything MDC-related, please contact Cynthia Mosher. Thanks!

Bret the cute one? I will never understand your kind. *sigh*

I am more and more sad by the day. DH had a gap between his front teeth JUST like Jemaine's and he crashed into a tree snowboarding last winter and knocked a tooth out. When they "fixed" it, they got rid of the gap He went back 4 times to tell them to make a bigger gap (while they were still fitting the implant) and at the cosmetic dentistry they thought he was crazy. In the end, they told him it was a gap, well, um, no, it's NOT!!! Watching Jemaine each week is torture, it just reminds me of how they ruined my husband's teeth!!

I know, that was a tangent, but quite relevant IMO.

I'm the mother flippin'

Everyone here watching Mel's blogs? Have you guys seen the most recent one at her hairdresser? :

I think they are both very attractive in their own way. Though I do prefer Jemaine, Bret has this wonderful sweetness and he's really growing on me.

Well, that makes two of us. I only wish I could understand my kind

Bret/Brit is just so sweet. Gemaine cracks me up, but Bret is so innocent. Although until Bret ditches the 80's wildlife sweatshirts, he's just not an option BTW, how do I find Mel's blog : I totally love their dry humor, and in fact, I'm waiting up for them as I type.

I am just so disappointed at us around these parts. I watched. I was pretty much laughing when I saw they slipped in an oldie (this is for all the ladies in the world...). But at this point i am honestly wondering- all the new songs must be new, right? There is not time (or context, but they can always introduce a weird context) but erioulsy, Jenny takes way too long, so I'm hopeful the rest of the songs in the series will be new ones, right?

OK, so back on topic, I think, this weeks was a bit funny! them trying to sneak out of the three-way girl's apt to end up in her livingroom? and the accidently ingesting the LSD- rockstars! It does flow from prior episodes and murray trying to push the rock star image.

I had known FOC from some little things, late night and comedy central, but until a few weeks ago I didn't know they had a BBC show. I ordered it a couple weeks ago and can't wait until I get it in the mail!!!! No babies in CD's anymore, I've given myself another thing to stalk the mailman for

DH thinks that the ending revealed that Jemaine and Bret had a three-way with Mel. I suppose to get her back as a fan... At first I was skeptical, but after a re-watch of that last scene, I don't know...maybe...

Has anyone here seen the figwit site?

Brett was an extra in LOTR, he played an elf on the Council of Elrond. He had only a few moments of screentime but became an internet sensation, and a bunch of (I assume) girls started a site devoted to his character. Google figwit, and the site will come up.

Figwit stands for "Frodo is great...who is that?" and the site is hysterical.

He was then asked back for the third movie, due to his fanbase.

All of that is either an elaborate hoax, or just really funny backstory.

I love Jemaine, all the way though.
