We just finished watching this week's episode and I really enjoyed it. It's definitely a new fav show. I like that, so far, most of the couples shown are adult and communicative and I love that they are showing couples well into their relationships who are still in love and hot and heavy for each other. I hope that Susan will talk to her dh about the card the lawyer (Dana! from The L Word!!! did you catch that? took me a minute!) gave him. I thought it was a nice nod to Gloria Steinem that lawyer-lady talked about unionizing and getting the bunnies health insurance.

I also must say that I am loving the soundtrack. Dp and I were born in the early 70s so our recolllection of the music and decor and fashion is kind of, well, from the perspective of very small people. It's neat to see these characters who were our parents age at the time. I keep meaning to ask my mama if she's seen it yet and get her perspective. I like the way they cut from scene to scene---very 70s!

And, yeah, oh yeah, to the Trina-Susan sexual tension. The earring bit at the end was a sweet tease.

I'm a morning person.  We actually do exist.

Yup, I noticed Erin Daniels from The L Word I definitely think something will happen with her and Bruce.

I think the sexism/gender issues showed up well in this show. You had the lawyer lady talking about unionizing, Janet's class issues, and then Trina's husband gets a promotion for screwing around. Wow.

I so love Trina, my goodness, and she's so not my type.

I loved the earring bit. I knew Trina was setting up something between the two of them when she didn't give Susan the earring, but told her to come over and get it. Does anyone think Susan left the earring there on purpose?

Me too. It's the confidence, the self-assuredness. Definitely sexy.

And, well, I would have left *my* earring on purpose, so the thought did occur to me.

It was good. I really don't care about the kids storylines though, other than the teen dd in college. The younger kids and that runaway neighbor, eh.

As soon as I saw the previews for this show, I was psyched!

Anyone else think something went on with Susan and ex-neighbor husband, a long time ago?

oh good..

I saw the previews for this show a couple months ago and was really looking forward to it.

I think I missed the first one

The one I saw had a couple agree that the first time was the only time, and that woman's best friend was mad at her for her for staying at the party. Three of them went to meet the red haired lady's hubby at the Penthouse Club(?) and when they got home, the mad friend was leaving a pie on their doorstep.

Was that the second show? Did I miss the third one?

That was ep. 2. Tonight is 3. I think they are keeping the episodes online at cbs.com.

OK, was the housewarming party attended by adults? Based on Janet's treatment, and that "painting" on the wall, I think not.:

I don't like the teacher-student thing going on.

Not much else to say about the episode.

It was funny because a couple minutes into this episode dh and I both turned to each other and said, oh it's the jealousy episode. Can't have a topic like this without it, of course

Loved the party, loved the wall paper thing. That was awesome.

I don't think Janet is holding a grudge, she's just jealous that she is no longer Susan's best friend. Susan has changed since she moved & Janet is jealous as it seems Janet's life isn't fulfilled(just as Susan's wasn't before either).

My thoughts...

1) I could NEVER imagine behaving the way Janet did in a friend's home to my friend's new friend. Regardless of her feelings, her behavior was really over-the-top.

2) I think that Janet's husband has a thing for Janet, not necessarily that something has happened between them in the past...but something may very well happen in the future.

3) Trina...I totally dig her. She is my kinda girl...my kinda neighbor...my kinda friend. The sick part is that I think she's totally hot, but she looks just like my step-mother did about 20 years ago...

Yeah, Janet's husband was way upset about the thought of Susan swinging. He definitely has a crush or something on her.

I didn't mind this week's episode. I think the interaction between Trina and Janet is a little silly. There's no other indication that Trina is so insecure that she would feel the need to "battle" Janet for Susan. I think the writers are having a hard time with Janet because they're making that story line so extreme, where as the story line with the boys is a lot less over the top.

I don't esp. like the teacher/student relationship but I do really like the daughter character, probably more than anyone else on the show.

I agree, Cass---I thought the Trina vs. Janet went a little over the top. Really, I feel like the audience knows them both well enough to know that tug over the meatballs went father than either woman would really take it. Now, perhaps if Janet had a bit much to drink or something, I might believe it. But, really, she's far too concerned with what her friends would think of her to act that way. I also felt badly for her about the Killjoy pic and can't imagine anyone at that party would care enough about her to draw that. As for Trina, I doubt Janet would even be much on her radar. She has a wide and varied social circle and even if she is a bit crushing on Susan, she's unlikely to need to fight for her in that way. Trina likes to play, not fight. I can see her feeling at competition with Janet, but she would never let it show like that.

I like the student/teacher realtionship and I like the daughter too.

I think the boys' friendship is being done really well. I liked the push-pull between adulthood and boyhood they are doing. It's a delicate dance, especially adding in the move and now shift in class difference. I wish they would bring a bit more of that well done subtlety to the adult relationships. I feel that way about tv a lot---the subplots are given more room to be true and raw and real because the main storylines have to grab and move forward.

Anyway, I liked the episode. I liked the tearing down of wallpaper and I like that Silvia is sticking around. I hope we get to see her lunch date w/ Susan. I'm interested in seeing how the women negotiate their friendships and sexual relationships.

Oh, and I think Roger has had a long term crush on Susan and is both jealous and disappointed that she slept with someone else.

I'm a morning person.  We actually do exist.

Funny story about how I found out about it....we were at a birthday party on Saturday and a couple women were talking about it. Appalled, yet enthralled about this horribly taboo topic on primetime network TV! They described it as absolutely porographic, so much so you would want to masturbate to it.

Well, of course I simply had to see this so I watched all three episodes yesterday on On-Demand. It was OK, I'll keep watching but pornographic...huh? Seriously, I thought that was pretty tame, even for broadcast TV. I called my friend and said, "Honey, if you masturbate to this we really need to take a trip to the adult shop because your sex life needs to be spiced up big time!!" She laughed so hard she dropped her phone.

Dh and I have an open marriage and we started out by swinging (although its not really our scene anymore) so it's fun to watch how it evolves for the characters. The writers definitely have experience or know folks who do because so far, they are very on-target with the relationship dynamics!

that is too funny!

i agree the last episode was over the top w/ the feud...i dont think Trina would have taken it that far at all...i could definitely see her going to get the meatballs after Janet put them away though. lol!

the student/teacher thing is a good subplot i think. i like both characters and it is a very real issue that i dealt w/ in college (dating a few professors in my time..one seriously) but i think the girl is still in high school right...so they are definitely skating on thin ice for that...but when you consider the main plot, i dont think its *too* risque. lol!

the daughter next door is sad to me. w/ her slutty mom.

I'm thinking it's probably less than that... he could be fresh out of college.

Last nights was really good. But even better was the preview for next week. Janet's finally letting her hair down. I hope this isn't a one season show it really looks like it's exploring all aspects of the dynamics of this type of relationships not just hopping into beds together. It's good to be put out there because there are a lot of prople who live the life and don't look at the consequences of each others thoughts so they are exploring that area.

I liked last night's episode with the pot brownies, but I cringed when Janet & her husband showed up at the cabin. I figured this show would be about more than just the three couples interacting (over and over and over again).

Just a heads up for those that may be Tivo'ing/DVR'ing it...the episode in two weeks (7/10) wasn't on mine, so I looked through the guide and it's listed as a repeat but it's NOT a repeat (I've watched them all). Hopefully they fix that, or it's just through MY provider (Time Warner).

Ah, thanks! I'll make sure my TiVo captures it.

I liked the part in this week's episode where Bruce said, "There's no guidebook for what we're going through, is there?"

No, Bruce, there isn't. There still isn't a good one either.
