Will be traveling to Germany with my 9 and 12 year old kids and renting a car while there. Am wondering what the laws are about children riding in the front seat of the car? Also, from what I've read booster seats are only required for children up to 150 cm. Is that right? Thanks!

This is what I found:

http://www.sciuridae.co.uk/child_car_seats/european_child_seat_law.htm

Quote:

Children under 12 and under 1.5m in height must use an appropriate child restraint, e.g. a child seat or booster seat while in the front or rear of a car. Do not use rearward facing seats in front seats equipped with air-bags. Children may travel in the rear seats without restraints if all the others are in use & no restraint is available. Children must not sit in the front seat without the right child seat. For other German travel recommendations click here.

Use the appropriate child seat--either a car seat or booster seat, if your child is under 12 years of age and less than 59 inches tall. This is the requirement regardless of where the child is seated.
