Right now we are shopping for a bigger car seat for our 1 year old. We'll also be travelling from Austria back to the US in November. We'll be driving around the US and will need a car seat there anyway.

We wanted to get the Cybex Pallas 2, since DD can use it until for a long time and she'll likely be a tall girl anyway. However, it is not approved for airline use. The Kiddy Guardian is, but the current model didn't get good reviews in the auto club tests.

Any recommendations on car seats for planes?

Just thought I'd bump your post up for attention. Hopefully someone will respond with some helpful info. :)

I ended up buying a rear facing for daily use from carseat.se and plan on ordering a Britax Pearl from amazon.uk for the flights. The Cybex just looked to hot...
