The offenders are well-known manufacturers such as Kellogg's, Betty Crocker and General Mills, and the fakes were found in bagels, cereals, breads and muffins. Some products contain real blueberries mixed with fakes. For example, the blueberry bagels sold at Target contain some real berries but the "blueberry bits" listed in the ingredients aren't real blueberries, according to Mike Adams, the author of the report.

Are you surprised? I ate blueberry oatmeal this morning (the kind in the little packet that you add water to). Now, I know a blueberry when I see one and those were NOT blueberries.

It shouldn't be surprising. Blueberries are pretty expensive. Of course companies are going to save money any way they can.

I would only be upset if the ingredients list stated that there were real blueberries and there wren't. I don't assume that the labels on many foods are fully honest or accurate but I do expect the ingredients list to be accurate.

I'm not surprised, but I should show this to DH who seems to take packaging claims at face value. Thanks for sharing.

This is simply fraud.

Blueberry bits should be bits of blueberries. Blueberry-flavored bits can be anything, but it still should be flavored with real blueberries.
