This is for those of us with toddlers/young children whose fingers seem to be in their noses all the time. Maybe it isn't as horrible as it seems?

Kind of light news, and something I've heard suggested before, but interesting anyway.

Despite everything you may have heard from your mom, picking your nose and eating what you find may have some health benefits, according to a biochemistry professor at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon.

"By consuming those pathogens caught within the mucus, could that be a way to teach your immune system about what it's surrounded with?" is the hypothesis Scott Napper posed to his students.

What do you think? Does this make the nose-picking bother you less?

I think it's wonderful that someone is studying this!  So interesting.  I do believe that being exposed to germs and bugs and such builds a strong immune system.  I don't want to see nose-picking, but if you do it during private time, I think it's fine.  Great story!
