The internet has been abuzz with a spate of recent articles about teenage sexuality and sleepovers.
This one on Slate.com.
Most of the articles compare the way Americans handle teenagers and sex with the way it is handled in Europe, specifically The Netherlands and Denmark. It is very interesting to note the difference in teenage pregnancy rates, America having one of the highest and Holland one of the lowest.
Attached to the Huffington Post article was what I consider to be an amazing video of a TedTalk by an educator on the importance of changing the way we talk about sex. A link to that is here.
My son is not at an age where this is currently a concern, but it is something that I do think about for when the time comes. I'm curious what some of you natural mamas of older children think about this discussion?
Thanks for linking so many great articles! I have a lot of mixed feelings about this. We haven't allowed it up until this point, but at some point that may shift. Part of me thinks that it is part of the growing pains of youth to have the challenge of this without being given 'permission.'
