I'm not sure if this is a good place for this and if I don't get many responses then I will move it....

My dd is 18mos old and she has been on the bottle since she was born but we did also nurse for several months, about 7-8 although it was very difficult and I tried every aid possible, got a lot of support from both LLL and friends who are experienced but nothing made it easier and I did have to supplement. I couldn't seem to get my supply up and it was strike after strike until I emotionally couldn't keep going and take good care of her at the same time.

Fast forward to now and she still points out my breasts and says booba's and pulls up y shirt and points out my breasts. I miss the idea that I was going to breastfeed and I have recently been wondering if I could try to get her back to the breast now that I have some emotional distance and know that she will be fine if it doesn't happen.

I have been reading about adoptive moms who breastfeed their older adopted toddlers and I think I can do with the help of nippleshields(which I still have) and a possibly buying a feeding tube thingie. I had one of those but threw it out when I was cleaning one time. I hated the one I had anyway. I know I have heard of others that people liked but don't remember what they were called?

Any advice or support would be appreciated!

Be willing to nurse. Ask if she wants to nurse. Nurse if she wants to.

It's not just about the milk, but likely you will relactate if she takes to nursing. Fenugreek an other herbs can help the milk come back faster too. Pumping when she isn't nursing can also help you relactate.

Hope that helps
