I am so in awe of all you mamas. I pumped for 3 months with DD1 then nursed her for another 16 months. She weaned when my colostrum came in with DD2 and I was so sure she would start again and no one understood why I was so upset when she didn't. DD2 is just 10 months and we want another baby but I am afraid that she will wean early like her sister did.

So that's 19 months and 10 months with a two month break in between.

I love Edward and we love our Libby (8/07) waterbirth.jpg and 'Nana' (05/09 )h20homebirth.gif and Eowyn (11/11) waterbirth.jpg  We are having a blast bfinfant.giffemalesling.GIFfamilybed1.gifcd.gif and homeschool.gif.

Dang, it seems weird to type that- to think it's actually been that long!!

It's definitely been the best period of my life.

And my dd **still** LOVES her 'buh-buhs' so who knows how long the total will end up being.

4 years, 6 months, 7 days . . . as long as the last time ds2 nursed (monday, 3 days ago) turns out to be his truly last time.

2 kids, 21 months tandem - 3yo seems to be the weaning age in our family thus far.

We've been nursing for 3 years and 5 months with 18 months of tandeming. Both kiddos are still going strong.

I know I have a little updating to do on this, and others might also. And maybe some new ladies would like to chime in. (Really, I just like knowing I'm not the only one around that has been going at this soooo long!)

Started nursing DS Feb 1997
DD1 joined him Nov 1999
DS weaned March 2000
DD2 joined DD1 Nov 2004
DD1 weaned Dec 2004
DNiece joined DD2 Dec 2004 (at DB & DSIL request...odd situation, but it worked for us)
DNiece was Auntie-led weaned April 2006 (they had to move)
DNephew joined DD2 Jan 2010 (again at DB & DSIL request, still working out just fine for us)

DD2 (turns 6 in 2 weeks) and DNephew are both currently nursing, and show no signs of weaning any time soon.

Also, we are in hopes to be adding another little one to our family soon.

So, my new current totals are (if my calculations are correct):

13 years, 8.5 months consecutive nursing
33-34 months tandem nursing (total, not all at one time)

Nursing non stop for 8 years and 4 months now...

Started nursing DS in July 2002
Ds#2 joined him in Sept 04
Ds#3 joined both of them in Nov 06
Ds#1 weaned at about 5 1/2
DS#2 weaned also at 5 1/2 while I was pregnant with DD
DD joined ds#3 in Jan 10
Ds#3 is almost not nursing anymore (he will be 4 next month)

So I am almost down to just nursing one again..

It is hard to imagine that I have been nursing two or more for bit more than 6 years...

eta... I just hit 100 months on Nov 16th....

8 years, 7 months, 15 days and still going strong!
15y/o was adopted @ age 14 mos and thus wasn't breastfed.
11DD nursed for a little over 2 years.
8DD nursed for 5 years, 3 months.
6DD nursed for 3 years. She and 8DD actually weaned around the same time.
3DD will be 4 in December and is still going strong.
2DD is still going, naturally.

If 3DD stays on, I could well be triandeming come December!

I love this thread!!

Thumbs up, mamas, you are all doing great!!!

I'm at 5 years and 5 months and counting.  About 9 months in the middle there were tandem.

But... I always include my first pg because to me, that is when my body became not just my own, you KWIM?  I mean, I'm not a wild child or anything, but there are few times when I'd love to have done vodka shots in wild abandon or eaten an entire day's worth of nasty bad-for-me-food but I've had to think twice because I'm not just feeding me.

So, with pg included, I'm at 6 years, 1 month so far.

yah, does it count when you have no more milk? i haven't had milk since last november ('09), but dd still nurses. my first two weaned at 4 1/2, so it is kind of weird for me to think that this one is probably weaning right now (she's only 3 1/2). she hadn't nursed in several weeks, then 2 days ago, she asked to nurse again. you never know when they're really done!
