I thought this would be fun (spin-off idea from another thread).
For those of us who have done CLW, who have nursed consecutive children straight through, or tandem-nursed....
How many consecutives years plus months have you been breastfeeding?
I have a cousin who has been nursing something like 10 years straight (spread among 4 kids I think - it's a second cousin and I've only met her maybe twice in my life, lol).
My youngest just weaned due to colostrum (she says it's icky
) but I had nursed for 3 years, 6.5 months when she weaned, and of course I'll be picking back up as soon as this baby is born (and hopefully DD will unwean too
You guys are all doing do great! This thread is inspirational for me; thank you. I've got one dd and we're at 3 years, 10 months now. We love noo-noo time. She says, "I need noo-noo toime!" like she's from NYC.

LOL
My first asked for "NURSIES!" so I thought I'd be a little more subtle this time and teach the 2nd to just ask for "MILK". I figured any kid can ask for milk in public and no one bats an eye, right?
Well, my youngest has outwitted me. He asks for milk alright...."MAMA'S MILK!" In a very loud, demanding voice I might add
I agree that you ladies are all AMAZING! I have a special brand of respect for the tandem nurses....that I only did for a very short time because the oldest stopped. I cannot imagine nursing two at the same time.
I only have one child, but we've been going strong for 2 years, 6 months. We'll keep going until he's ready to quit. It gets funnier as he gets older- right now he calls it his "tummy yummies".
Edited/updated: As of April 2011, it'll be 3y 11mos for us! Wow.
Edited again! Here we are in August 2011 and we're still going strong. 4 years 3 months. That includes nursing through a pregnancy and miscarriage, 150 pounds of weight loss, training for a marathon, and so, so much more!
I nursed for almost 5 years exactly to the day...my DD weaned in August when she had extended visitation with her dad. I only tandemned for about 6 months; I admire you mamas who do it longer.
6 years, 3 (ish - not sure exactly when he stopped for good) months breastfeeding straight through with the same child, most of it breastfeeding two as my twins nursed a LONG time. . . DD weaned at 5 1/2 while DH kept going.
But I have been either pregnant or breastfeeding for 8 years, 8 months and counting as I coincidentally got pregnant w/ #3 about the same time DS weaned. I don't think the baby will nurse as long as her big siblings, though.

HAH! He wishes. Yes, I did mean DS, although that was funnier.
