DS turned 3 in Sept. Since a month or two ago, he has only nursed right before bed, sometimes both sides, sometimes just one. Every night when we lay down I think "maybe he won't ask!" but every time, I hear "Can I have boobie?" with his big grin LOL
Last night... I waited... and I heard... SNORING.
Now, I know I have milk still (pregnant-28 weeks) because I asked him. One night he said I didn't but he was swallowing so I think he was kidding. The next night when I asked he said I did have milk... because he put it there with his tongue. I asked how and he said "because I'm awesome". Like, duh...LOL
So- I realize no one can say for sure but I am kind of excited about having a Boobie Break before the new baby comes (does that make me horrible? To be...happy...about it? Maybe that's why CLW is so wonderful, when it happens, you're ready?). I mean, I'm sad that something may have ended but I was sad when he decided to PT too so there you go!
Watch- tonight I'll hear it, "Can I have boobie?" and all this thinking will have been pointless!!

"Don't offer, don't refuse" is a mother led weaning technique. It is not CLW. If you're okay with that, continue to not offer. He may ask again, he may not.

He's 3. If he wants it, he can tell me. I would think that offering when he doesn't want it (because if he did, he'd say so) would be more like..."mother led hanging on" with a kid this age.
And it's moot. He asked last night anyway.

I would consider don't offer/don't refuse to be a MLW weaning technique..... if the child in question was 1, or even 2 maybe. There comes a certain age, however, that constantly offering the boob could actually be construed as mother-led weaning, at least IMO.
A fully verbal 3 year old is perfectly capable of identifying and expressing a desire to nurse. I would consider it CLW to leave it at that.

Mandynee, whether your DS is done nursing or not, you've done a great thing nursing for three years and through 28 weeks of pregnancy. I hope you're giving yourself the kudos you deserve and that things go equally well with the new LO.
