My son is 2 1/2 and he still nurses when he wants too . My thyroid is going to be removed and I am afraid I may be forced to stop nursing him which I don't want too but I do not know how I will be after the surgery but I was wondering if anyone who had the surgery was 'able to nurse safely or did they have to give it up .

I know there are alot of different type of surgeries.

You should be able to work with your doc on compatible anesthesia and such to minimize any need to not nurse right after surgery. And after you will, I assume, be on synthetic thyroid hormone? That's compatible with nursing, the main risk will be if it takes too long to adjust going hypo can kill your supply.
