Here's mine... they'll be 3 in July. You're UCing twins in China? I did in Thailand... no midwives here and automatic C/S in hospital.

Yeah, exact same situation. No midwives in my city and can't travel to Beijing or Shanghai so we're doing it ourselves because I hate that c-section is the automatic answer.

Thank you for sharing your awesome story!

Very exciting! I wish you the best and look forward to hearing how it goes as well!

And I wish I had some more than just good thoughts for you. I can say, that all the hospital twin birth stories I've ever heard have been not so great. I would absolutely do the same thing.

Hi
I am 18 weeks with twins. The midwives in my city in Canada won't attend a twin home birth. The best they can do is do shared care with an OB for prenatals (every other appointment) and then labour support in the OR.
I have a student midwife who has said she will attend me at home . I really want to do this, but I'm having a hard time educating myself to gain confidence and knowledge that a home birth is safe option with twins. I don't want to be irresponsible, yet there is so much fear propaganda with twin births out there that it is hard to find the truth.
My son was born easily at home in water 2 years ago and my 4 year old daughter was born naturally at a hospital with no interventions.
I don't want to have an medically managed birth this time either or be coerced into interventions that I don't feel good about.

How do you you know if and when twin home birth would be a good idea? Does babies positioning really matter, if my student midwife says she is totally confident with a breech baby? What about how old the babies are? Chorionicty? Is there time for transfer in case of emergency if the hospital is close? Can anyone direct my frantic thoughts on this?

Junebug, I'm sorry you're having difficulty finding support. I have to say, your student midwife is making me nervous. It's great that she's confident, but what's her experience that makes her feel that way? Statistically, breech delivery is safe with an experienced care provider. What would it take to make you feel safe?

All of your concerns are valid. And I agree with stik about the student midwife. A lot of your questions about homebirth safety of twins, etc. could perhaps be answered better in the mothering multiples forum here.

Junebug- is your student midwife really willing to risk her career over attending your homebirth? I would suspect that it would be grounds for expulsion from the midwifery program and would undoubtedly destroy the relationship between herself and her preceptor.

I attempted to UC my twins but developed pre-e and had to transfer for a c-section. Mamarabbit and I were due within weeks of each other. Mine were breech/vertex so induction was not an option. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Hope you have better twin births then I did.
