PLanning a UC and would like to know what is a normal heart range BPM for baby? Only plan on checking if labor seems prolonged or I feel the need.
homescholing traveling mama of two ('08 and '12) expecting May 2015!
In labor, baby's heart rate should be about what it usually is.
Some moms have super powerful contractions which can reduce blood oxygen supply to the baby during the contraction. This can, in some cases, cause baby's heart rate to drop just a little bit, but it should come back up once the contraction is over. If the heart rate does not come back up after contractions or stays low for a long time after contraction, it's an indication that baby is distressed and emergency help is necessary.
Normal HR is, I believe, about 120-180, but it's more important to know what's normal for YOUR baby.
