Hi everyone, I just found out I am pregnant with my second child and I'm planning a somewhat unassisted pregnancy and birth.
The last pregnancy was wonderful, we had a home birth in water and I called the midwife about 20 mins before my daughter was born and told her to just go make a cup of tea and hang out with my mother in law in the living room. She did no checks as I didn't want her too and I felt 100% fine, I was totally relaxed and had my daughter in the pool with just my husband present.
My sister popped her head in just as my daughter was born and called my MIL and the midwife through to the room.
I refused any newborn baby check, weighing etc until the next day and so it was just me and my husband that held my daughter that first night.
We also had a lotus birth which was pretty cool. My daughter was the brightest red baby myself and the midwife had ever seen. Lots of extra blood in her system. It was also nice as we had a quiet "baby moon" til the cord fell off on day 4 (very early too, but I guess it dried out more as the moisture got sucked in to the baby and placenta at the same time, instead of just the baby.
So this time I am just taking it as it goes and listening to my body.
I don't know how much pregnancy care I will get/do myself. I will need to see them once to confirm the pregnancy for my maternity pay at some point, more than that...I don't know.
Day by day, we'll see how it goes. Listening to myself is the best way to know what to do. No point in planning unless my intuition tells me to plan.
Looking forward to another uneventful pregnancy and beautiful birth at home with my hubby and daughter.
I have a video of my last birth I will get uploaded and post in here for you guys too!
I didn't realise it at the time but really I wanted an unassisted birth last time (and pretty much had one), I just didn't realise I was "allowed" to do it!
