Hi Brightstarshine,

I am 30 weeks along today and am feeling pretty good. I have some shortness of breath, which I guess is pretty normal at this point. My baby is moving quite a bit. I get the sense it is a boy. I have put on 25 pounds, but I have gained it all in the front! I have a big stomach and the rest of me is still quite small. I am barely four feet eleven inches tall, and started the pregnancy at 96 pounds. My husband lovingly tells me I look funny, and I suppose I do.

How far along are you now? I bet your baby is moving around by now. And this is your 6th baby--wow. Hats off to you! One of my sister-in-laws has six. How old are your other kids? I hope you will update soon, and good luck to you.

Hi Brightstarshine, abk51673, and TizTaz5,

I am currently 40 weeks and 3 days... and feeling pretty ready to be done!

This is my second child and with my first dd I went 19 days "overdue" so I'm anxious about how much longer I might have to wait.

I've been having a very easy time of it. Some lower back pain, some sleepless nights, (and a horrible thrombosed hemorrhoid, that resolved itself, thank the Lord!) but altogether this pregnancy has been EASY! I'm just excited and in a hurry to meet my little one and find out if it's a boy or a girl!

I'm so glad there is this little online community to take part in so that I don't feel quite so alone in this backwards and isolated part of West Virginia.

Hi, everyone! I'm 17 weeks along now and am feeling pretty good. My nausea passed for the most part about two weeks ago, which is a wonderful relief. Now I'm just dealing with aches and pains. I think I've been feeling the baby move, but it's still not strong enough for me to be sure. I'm dealing with some high blood pressure readings but am taking magnesium and a few herbs to try to get everything under control. I'm doing my own prenatal care but consulting with a midwife who lives in another city. If my blood pressure doesn't get under control soon, I'll probably have to go to an OB (no other choices in this area) and am hoping it doesn't come to that.

This is our fourth child, an unexpected little blessing after five+ years of saying we wouldn't have any more. Our older kids are all boys, and we're going to be surprised with this one. It's nice to meet up with you ladies!

I am 16 weeks and 4 days pregnant. I am a little nervous about doing a UC and was hoping to have a midwife I can not afford one and there is no way I am going to a hospital unless it is truly medically necessary. This is my 4 th pregnancy and my last birth was at home and only lasted a couple hours. Though I had prodromal labor the night before, sleeping in the tub helped. I feel kinda lost and outta the pregnancy and birth loop , I don't even know where to begin to prepare for this. I know I can birth this baby on my own though. This was also a surprise pregnancy and my last was over 5 years ago.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

Hi Peacemamalove, I can understand where you're coming from. This pregnancy was a complete shock to me as well. We lost our 1st child in June 2009, and were told that our chances of having another one were very slim. When I took the home test to see if I were pregnant or not, I thought, "This is going to be a waste of time, there's no way that it happened again." Well, the test immediately showed 2 bright lines, to my amazement. I dropped it on the floor and actually yelled, "NO! This can't be happening!" My husband came in and asked what was going on and I showed him the test. "How did this happen?" I demanded, and he just laughed and asked, "Do you really want me to explain how it happened?" Men. eyesroll.gif

Anyway, best of luck to you. We are in the midst of trying to find a midwife, and it's been hard. One flat out rejected me, two never called me back, one is booked up when I am due, one wants to charge what my husband and I feel is ridiculous. And, of course, our insurance isn't going to pay for any prenatals, the birth, or postpartums. Lovely. However, a lady I met on here referred me to another midwife, whose fee is much more reasonable and realistic for us. Maybe you could post that you're looking for an affordable midwife in the Find Your Tribe for Vermont? I am like you, the hospital is where I go ONLY if there is a life or death emergency. I feel that I could UC without a lot of trouble. The loss we had in 2009 was basically unassisted, so we feel like a UC wouldn't be a huge issue. It is all a lot to take in at once, though, especially if your pregnancy was a surprise. I can definitely understand your feeling of being out of the loop. We don't have any other children, and I feel like I've never even really been in the loop. LOL.

This will be my third pregnancy and fourth (and fifth?) baby.  I am almost 8 weeks...and I have a cold.  I have been having morning sickness (which was AWFUL for a week, but has tamed down a great deal, now that I've learned how to better take care of it) as well as headaches that keep me from sleeping.  Last pregnancy, the ms went away at 9 weeks, and the headaches at 13 weeks.  I'm hoping that's the case this time as well.

I suspect possible twins, and I'll probably have a girl/girls, but it would be nice to have a boy.  I have twin girls, ages 2.5 years, and my third daughter turned 1 a month ago.  I have had all my babies unassisted, with no one else there except me and my husband.  I'd like to birth solo this time.  I'm also having an UP.

Almi, I loved your video and your twins birth story! I put your video on my blog because it is so awesome! http://lovekeepsgrowing.blogspot.com/

I just started to have morning sickness yesterday. I am 6 weeks. I am tired, emotional, and very irritable. Nursing my toddler is driving me crazy, since my nipples hurt sooo much!

I'm 39 weeks & 3 days, hoping today is the day as there's been a noticeable lack of sleep all week, though I've never delivered this early. This is our 4th, the other 3 all went to at least 41 weeks so... it's probably not today. The BH are sporadic, few & far between, but strong. This waiting part of the last few weeks drives me crazy. Must clean!

Hi ladies!  Nobody else in the December DDC is having an unassisted birth, so I thought I'd pop over here for some camaraderie!

I'm 9 1/2 weeks with my 6th child, also a surprise.  My symptoms are manageable- nausea not too bad, and I'm less tired than I was a couple of weeks ago.  I am so looking forward to the second trimester when I'll actually feel GOOD, not like I'm just doing okay.  And can't wait to feel baby moving!

We've just told our kids and starting to tell friends and family, it's an exciting time.

I always feel a little unsure about birthing unassisted in my early pregnancy, when I'm feeling more vulnerable and things are more insecure.  I had unassisted births with my last two (10,12 and 10,8- big boys!).

We're hoping for a girl, as we only have one!
