I think she is wrong, but I'm not sure what to do know. Have any of you gotten a birth certificate in california for unassisted home birth? How did you do it?
I'm guessing you live in San Diego? She is wrong, at least about waiting two years. You will have to go to the courts though. We just went through this about a year and a half ago. Here's the link:
Basically, you will have to file a petition with the court to establish fact of birth. Once your petition is granted, you send the paperwork to Sacramento along with another packet to get the birth certificate. Once you get that it'll be several weeks before you can get the SSN. Good luck!
