Who here is due soon?  I am 37 weeks with baby #4 - my due date based off of when I suspected I ovulated would be January 2nd, and December 28th off of my LMP.  Since I seem to have my babies early (twins at 36+3 and single at 38+6), I'm expecting this little one any day.  I have had several bouts of prodromal (practice!) labor so far, and I have been dilated to 3 cm since 33-34 weeks.  I'm now a very stretchy 4 cm (80%+ effaced), I've had lots of bloody show(s), and I can feel the baby fully engaged with a little bit of bulging sac.  My contractions range from just some pressure to being crampy and uncomfortable, but nothing I really have to stop and breathe through.  I feel like I have a baby in my butt anyway!  Just waiting for some hard contractions and it'll be a done deal.  My last two labors were 4 hours and 1 hour, respectively.  Can't wait to meet my little one - and find out gender! :)

P.S. I hope to videotape!

38 weeks tomorrow, due 28 December per LMP. This is only my second child, so I don't have much of a history, but DD came at 38 + 5. Expecting little one any day with the increased frequency and strength of my braxton hicks ctx. Not really sure where I am dilation/effacement-wise, as I am UPing and don't really give a rip. No bloody show, but I also don't recall one last time (probably unwittingly flushed). Little one is engaged and, judging by her activity levels, eager to meet the world. Last labor was 5 hours without a hitch, expecting half that this time, statistically speaking. We had a super short ultrasound around 20 weeks at a commercial place to determine gender, and we are patiently awaiting the arrival of our second DD. joy.gif

Wow, nice!  I can't believe how similar our experiences are.

I have been UP'ing as well.  I learned to check my cervical dilation last time (didn't care when I was pg with twins though).  It is so incredible to be able to touch my baby's head before it's born.  Lol.  Interestingly enough, I've never had a bloody show before this.  With my twins, I had no spotting, no bloody show.  With my last, I had first trimester spotting, but no bloody show.  And this one, no spotting, but lots of bloody show!

Interested to see what my water is going to do this time.  With my twins, my water broke right before labor started.  Last time, I broke it with my finger when I started pushing.

I hope you continue to have similar experiences to me - a shorter labor this time!  I couldn't believe it when my husband said the time of birth on Maribel's birth video.  After I went and got comfortable with her, I was like, "What time did you say it was?  I was only in labor for a little over an hour?!" XD

Oh and btw, we have three girls!  We absolutely love having girls, but it would be interesting if we had a boy this time.  Can't wait, can't wait! :)

I'm 38+4 weeks, EDD December 23, based on known date of conception. It's sad that I know the date of conception but truth is, my husband and I just weren't too active at the time, lol. This will also be my fourth with my oldest being 4, daughter 2 1/2, and youngest will be 14 months tomorrow! We're hoping to slow down after this one but we'll see what happens!

For the first time, I feel more patient than ever on letting the baby pick it's birth day, which is strange for me but nice! I assume it's because there's so much going on with Christmas and everything. I'm hoping for the baby to be born before Christmas or right after.

40+2 weeks here! So exciting! Lots of new babies! Hope you ladies will let us now how things go! I've had lots of bh contractions for weeks and last couple weeks or so lots of shooting cervical pain..hoping something is going on down there but no other early labor symptoms, and baby feels like he's gonna dig his way out often times :-) I was kinda hoping baby would come by due date (12 th) just so I had a little recovery time before Christmas, but I suppose it doesn't really matter much. Although I've gotten to the point where I'm so tired of lugging my big pregnant belly around cleaning house and stuff that I've really been slacking. Got a good bit done today but ugh! I can't even put the towels up on the shelf really
Because my belly is so in the way!

Oh wow I didn't know so many others were so close too!

I was always very patient for my babies to come for my other pregnancies.  For some reason I'm really impatient to meet this one.  Like, pregnancy has its annoyances (I have heartburn right now just because I was bending over washing the girls' hair), but I'm definitely not as uncomfortable as I was [with my other pregnancies] - or as I could be!  Just super excited to meet this baby is all!  I made a guess earlier on that I'd have the baby between Dec 7 and Dec 20.  I know it's going to be before Christmas.  I think another reason I'm so impatient is that, the farther we go, the closer to other birthdays and holidays we get to.  (Also, I've started my leave already, come on baby!)  I have brothers with birthdays on Dec 24 (two brothers, the other set of twins in my family), Jan 1, and Jan 10.  Those are all my brothers.  And then my dad's birthday is Dec 28!  I never wanted to have kids around this time...not around holidays...and now look, I will have three around this time.  My third baby too, was born a day before her cousin's birthday in April.  Lol.

rlschrader, all of my girls are still little too.  The twins just turned 3 on the 7th, and my youngest is 19 months.  And like you, I'm definitely wanting to "slow down" a lot after this one!  These kids are wearing me out! :)

Yes, you will have your hands full too. As if you haven't heard that one before, lol! That seems to be the thing we hear most when we're out and about! How fun to have twins! I know it'd be a lot of work but fun. As much as I get worn out and stressed, I love having the kid close together and watching them grow up together...I wouldn't change a thing! smile.gif

Same!  I love having them close, because they play together and learn social skills better.  (We plan to homeschool/unschool, so, bonus!)  Having so many littles at once also gives me an excuse to buy cute things like toddler tables.  Lol.  Plus it's funny that people ask me if they're triplets all the time. XD

Here's my girls, in order of birth:

Samsung Techwin

The thing I love the most about this pic is that they all plopped onto the couch like this of their own volition.  They are some tight sisters. <3

Oh my goodness, you make cute kids!! We plan on homeschooling as well, so I agree with you on the closeness in age being a bonus on that part, too!

Cute kids! This'll just be my second and my first is two and three months or so now, so little gap but not huge. Will be interesting though seeing her with a new little baby. I have no clue if she'll be great or super jealous :-) and earlier in the month would have been nice! My mom's and hubby bday late Dec and Christmas, yikes! Plus I work a little from home so wasn't really planning on much time off. I groom dogs, and everybody wants fido or whatever cleaned up for Christmas...would have been nice to get a few in, but looking like I won't be able to now...bummer

You know, I've heard that it is hardest going from one to two kids!  I know with my twins, they were pretty nonchalant about having a new sister.  They certainly loved having a baby around because they're little mini mommies lol.  But the fact that they had each other I think helped with any jealousy.  I think if anyone gets jealous of this new one, it's going to be little Maribel.  She's kind of more of a handful to begin with, but even so, she's pretty close with her sisters and also loves babies.  I hope the transition goes well.  Just need to remember to hold my older babies enough. :) <3

Btw where in MN are you?  I'm actually in the Moorhead, MN now instead of Fargo, ND, though it still says ND on my profile.

Ya, I'm thinking as long as I make sure to include my daughter in what I can so she doesnt feel left out she should probably be fine. Right now she just loves helping mommy with anything she can like laundry, cooking and so on...So, maybe I can put the diapers somewhere she can reach so she can get them or whatever...little things like that should help :) And she loves babies as well...always saying baby!!! when she sees one somewhere..

I'm in jordan, mn :)

This is amazing because although we're currently in Arkansas, I'm from Grand Rapids, MN and we plan on moving back someday soon! Small world, lol!!

And I agree, the transition is harder going from 1-2 kids, I think more emotionally for me though. It's easier as the kids get older and can help out more...my four year old is amazing!

Haha! Funny! Five centimeters and nothing?! Bummer! I have no clue what I'm at. My cervix is either still just that high up or its because I have insanely tiny hands/short fingers. My husband says I have T-rex hands. Haha! Strong Braxton hicks but that's been going on for what seems like forever. Lots pain, pressure down there but nothing else. Still have plug as far as I know and I'm 40+5 now...really would love to get on with this!

I lose mucus periodically throughout the day, every day.  Apparently all my bloody shows amounted to was a little bit of dilation and effacement (from 3 cm to 5 cm, 50-80% to 90-100%).  Once I had them, and dilated further, I stopped getting "shows."  I always thought that bloody show = you're going to have a baby within a few days. XD

Yeah, sticking three fingers up into my cervix means I have to pretty much ram my hand in there.  Easiest done while on the toilet.  But it's super duper neat to feel the baby's head and the bulging sac around it (could easily break my water if I wanted).  And I can feel the little bones in the baby's head too.  I never thought I'd be able to do that, ever, in my lifetime.  So I enjoy touching my baby's head while waiting for him/her to arrive.  Lol.

Still no hard labor contractions for me...just lots of BH's of varying degrees.

That's awesome! Very exciting...I keep getting up everyday thinking even if it's not today I'm still another day closer and we are in the home stretch. Won't be long for us! Tons Braxton hicks today to the point where it's basically anytime I do anything, stand up, bend over, try and pick up the house. Kind of uncomfortable but still just Braxton hicks. Did do some squatting hip rotations earlier that felt like they moved baby more into position, but really don't know :-)

Kinda nice chatting with other uc mommas. :-) I tried chiming in a few times on the regular December babies forum and those ladies just seem to completely ignore me...maybe it's because I didn't join in the beginning of pregnancy as they did. So anyway, pretty much gave up on that, lol, anyway many of them are having inductions, c sections which really doesn't interest me...

Oh! And still love reading up on all things birth. I read recently that often second labors are half the time of first. And also pregnancies and labors often similar to that of their mothers? Talked to my mom. She has had all short ones. 4, 3, 2 hours. My first daughter was quick as well but I didn't time it...never thought of it. Hubby thinks hour or two. I tell him I know it was quick but really doubt that quick...anyway, have been planning water birth with pool. Hubby has hose and pool all ready for me, but now I'm starting to think would there even be time for that???? With history of short labor and then being home doing uc, being able to move around and feel comfortable, starting to think this going to be pretty fast probably...especially with all the Braxton hicks, cervical pain, pressure preparing me. Sure outta be interesting! :-) anyway, debating on whether to attempt the pool or just scratch the idea..

I've been having lots of action these past couple of days but who knows when baby will be born...at least I know my body is preparing and doing something! I've been really emotional lately too, I'll cry at just about anything and have a hard time stopping, lol. Very sentimental I guess.

I've been following the December group, too, but haven't posted anything because I just started following in November. It's exciting seeing babies born! But yeah, I don't feel like if really fit in anyways.

Almi, it's neat that you can feel your baby's head!! I've tried every pregnancy but just can't figure out if I'm actually feeling my cervix or not and give up. Maybe I'll try again later.

I stepped on a piece of glass on one of my many trips to the bathroom tonight. Just a glass sliver but it was a long one. No clue how that got there! With my belly I couldn't get to it real well so woke hubby up to help me. He grudgingly crawled out of bed, pulled it out with tweezers, and this thing was long! I was bleeding, anyway, he accidentally dropped the glass on the carpet somewhere and then went back to bed...so I had to hobble into the bathroom to clean up my bloody foot and then vacuum the floor so I don't step on it again. I was so mad I called him a name and told him I'm not making his lunch for work tomorrow! which I don't think I've ever called him before...I'm generally pretty respectful and don't think name calling a spouse is good or healthy at all for a marriage, but hey! I was that hurt, mad, offended, whatever that he wasn't helping me more. And he better have a better attitude if labor comes in middle of the night! :-)

Well, ladies. This is it. Labor started a little less than an hour ago, and I am 1.5 minutes between contractions, giving me little time to rest. Wish me luck and send your prayers!

No kidding.  I've actually been a somewhat active member on a normal pregnancy forum for several years now.  At first everyone was totally against UC and flamed the crap out of me (especially because my first were twins lol).  But I stuck around (and around here, to keep my sanity) and even though I probably still have "haters," at least everyone is respectful towards me now...I like to think I've at least inspired a few.  It is difficult for me to see so many inductions and c-sections though, on that forum.

I think in general, consecutive labors are shorter.  Probably just because you're not as nervous, you know what to do, your body remembers what to do.  I know (IRL and online) several ladies that have had longer (sometimes harder) labors for their second, third, or fourth babies.  A coworker of mine had about a 45 minute labor for her first and then went on to have a 10-12 hour labor for her second (she was glad she could get an epidural that time...I was like, oookay).  Someone I know from that pregnancy forum (and have on FB) had a longer labor with her third than her second, and possibly her first, but I don't remember exactly.  And a good friend of mine whom has 6 children (one in heaven) had the most difficult and long labor with her fifth child.  He decided to turn posterior within a few days before he was born...silly boy.  I believe she birthed him naturally, sunny side up, too.  Unfortunately he came out with a big bruise on his head because the nurse forced her down onto the bed when she was pushing (she was squatting with a hang bar or something), making it extremely difficult for her to get him out.

Anyway, in my own experience, labors keep getting shorter!  Being at 5 cm and so stretchy, I can't see me laboring for more than 30 minutes with this one.  I have known from the beginning that it will probably go fast...(I'm getting good at this!  lol jk).  I began my last labor dilated to 3-4 cm, but not sure with my first.  I must have been dilated at least a few cm though, because I thought I felt the changes happening in my cervix a few weeks prior, and then my first baby's water broke right before labor started.

Yeah, I had time to fill the pool for my first birth, but by the time it was full, I was having contractions that were too close together and too strong to get comfortable in it.  Didn't even have time last time, so it's still packed away in the garage for this time (we got it out last summer and swam in it, lol).

That's interesting about having similar labor patterns to our mothers.  I would say that's pretty accurate.  My mom supposedly had her first at 43 weeks exactly, but I wonder if they had her dates wrong, because he was completely average in size and covered in vernix.  He didn't show any signs of being a "post dates" baby.  Otherwise, her second baby was one week early, and I personally came four days early.  I want to say she had average length of labors for first and second time, though her second time was shorter.  And then her labor with me was quick, and she said I was always firmly engaged in her pelvis for the last month or two like all of my babies have been.  Also, this was back when they did routine episiotomies, and according to her, I came so fast they didn't have time.  Lol.  Anyway, my mom had more babies after me, she had her twins at 35 weeks.  My twins were born at 36.5 weeks, and my last at one day shy of 39.

I didn't think I'd go past 38.5 weeks with this pregnancy.  But it's starting to look like I might...PLEASE NOT A CHRISTMAS BABY!  XD
