Emelie Helena (Hel-AY-na) was born at 11:07 pm on 12/17...

a perfect unassisted waterbirth (after ceserean)... daddy caught and big(gest) brother held the flashlight. My milk is already in, as she's been nursing as long as she's been breathing! She was rooting immediately upon being brought out of the water. She looooves her milk!

She was in the 8 lb range, and 22 inches long. More info to follow...
Here's the pictures, the first 48 hours

right now I'm searching for information on how to care for my 1st degree pereneal (sp?) tear. It's small... but it friggin hurts! I have not yet gone to the bathroom (#2), but need to... afraid to sit and re-open the wound... any ideas? (Please don't suggest stitches, thanks!)

Congratulations!

Try a peri bottle/sitz bath for the tear. They'll soothe and make it easier to clean yourself without splitting things. Try to keep your knees together as much as possible.

you could get some of that skin glue that band-aid makes...it should be able to hold a first-degree tear together pretty well.

congratulations!

successful #2 Jan. 25th - welcome Maisie Elise!

Keep your legs together, sit on some towels instead of wearing pads, or you could freeze some cloth wipes and sit on them to help with the swelling and pain.. do that for a 4 or so days and it should heal a lot.. and be done completely within a couple weeks. Make others do everything for you.. you just lay/recline with baby.. and go potty once in awhile.

CONGRATULATIONA! WAAAHOOOO!!!

: ITA with PP, I forgot about the pads...that is an excellent idea! I pm'd you, nothing needs to be done. Keeping legs together heals it fine...Go potty. Don't hold it in... constipation is harder on your bottom than the possibilty of pain from the tear... You also might want to have a sitz bath with herbs after you go potty....

I just wanted to suggest that if you haven't already gone #2, it might make you feel more confident if you press a warm, wet, washcloth over your perineum when you finally get the guts to 'go'

Hugs & congratulations on your amazing birth and wonderful new DD!!

Congratulations! I hope your tear feels better, but don't hold it in if you need to go to the bathroom or you could cause real problems. Have you tried a stool softener?

congrats, mama!

Congratulations, Angelina!

I hope the potty situation has worked out for you by now - you can have a million people tell you to relax and just go, but boy, is there a mental block there or what? I was totally anxious about going #2 after my birth a few weeks ago, even after I had gone once! There's just something about pushing one more thing out of your body, I think! Anyway, just some rambing support. . .

Welcome Emelie!
